I ended up finding a complete disc brake conversion kit collecting dust on someones shelf to use on my 60 Chev, so I have the scarebird conversion plates and related hardware (see the scarebird website for the details) to fit a 59-63 Chev I believe. The kit was $150 and includes a complete parts list of over the counter GM brake parts to make it work. I can send a pic of the setup upon request. I used a scarebird kit on my 59 US Pontiac, and it is a great setup. If you're interested, $80 or trade for something cool.
What components does scarebird actually supply? I was looking at the conversion for a 66 Chevelle (GM A-body). It shows a pretty good write up procedure for installation, but doesn't actually say what components are supplied. Or am I missing something?
Basically just a couple of conversion plates and assorted bolts. You buy the actual components (bearings, rotors, calipers,pads, hoses, etc. off a list they supply for your installation. What I like about this is that all my brake parts are GM parts available at my local parts store, and I choose what quality of part I want. I guess thats what the kit is under $200.
