1954 Pathfinder!

Well I got my first car a few months ago (I just turned 18) and I managed to scoop up a Pathfinder. I love these ponchos so when I seen it, it was love at first sight. It doesn't run at the moment and it is in fairly rough shape but it's what I wanted. I'm working on this car with my father but for the most part I'm going to have to learn on my own. He is a bike guy and has always had motorcycles, although his first vehicle was a 1949 Dodge 1/2 ton pickup. (Which he worked on extensively) his knowledge is limited. Because of this I was wondering what you guys could tell me about these cars? I know essentially it's a rebadged 54 Chevy. But what are the differences? Are there any webpages you could direct me to for information? I'm new to the hot rod/custom world and only recently caught the "bug" so any help would be appreciated.

Some pictures are in order I suppose!

These pictures were taken in August when I first got it! Most of small dents/roof dents and stuff have been dealt with. I'm still trying to think of a way to fix the drunk/the buckled door.

Looks like a good project.First of all i would suggest posting a pic of the data plate and then some of the fine folks here can help identify what exactly you have, engine, colors, etc.Second get yourself a factory manual, the orange one is the one you want not the red one, they are on ebay quite often. So from the firewall back you have a 54 chevy, from the firewall forward all canadian pontiac.Makes finding some pieces a challenge but they are still out there.Looks like the engine is a six cyl,so probably a 239,auto or three on the tree? They are pretty basic to work on if you have a basic knowledge of automotives. No electronics, computers, fancy tools really needed.I always joke that if you have a screw driver and a crescent wrench you can fix most anything on them.Lots of good folks here to lend a hand and give advice,i must say one of the best groups i've joined since i started working on my own 54.Good luck, visit often, ask lots of questions and mostly have fun.

I will take a pic of the data plate once the now melts! But for the moment I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a manual? I'm having issues finding one even on ebay. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

Also thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the site ! Google Ken Mcgee Auto Literature. He's in Ontario and is a reliable seller. Likely has what you're looking for. Good Luck and I'm sure the Canadian Poncho can be of help.

Nice to see young blood on here aside from my son. Welcome and you will find a vast knowledge on here as well. great start with a complete car.
Ratrodding it would be an inexpensive way to build that. The patina is awesome! Keep us posted on your progress
