68 Acadian - Emblems

Hey guys,

I Have the majority of the badging for my car but if possible would like to freshen it up (pitting, etc). Is there anyone that reproduces emblems or refinishes emblems? Or ewven anyone that has Acadian emblems they're selling?

Also, maybe someone could help me determine which hood emblem my car should have exactly... Did the 68 say Acadian? Or was it the 3 maple leaves?

Thanks for any help in advance - Kev

The Correct 1971 Acadian Hood Lip Emblem

Ok folks,

I went to some of those people in Canada that re-sell used Acadian parts, and I tried to explain to them that the 1971 Acadian has this hood lip emblem:

The 1970 has the single Maple Leaf. The 1969 has the 3 smaller Maple Leafs. I believe that the 1968 has a different one, but I don't recall seen it before.

Can someone post the image for the hood lip emblem? I appreciate that.

Hey GerryLP

I'm looking at a picture of my old 68 Acadian. The hood lip is the same as the 71. It says ACADIAN but the lettering is not colored. It looks as if the 68's and 71's shared the same hood lip (red lettering in 71 ) and the same emblem design for the 68 rear quarters and 71 front fenders. I have no idea what the trunk emblems looked like.
Ps. Did 69 and 70 share the same type of trunk and side emblems.

See you over at the Pontiac debate thread!!!!

Gerry, in the brochure the 68 hood emblem appears to be the same as your 71, except the lettering is black.
The front end of the 71 Acadian SS is almost identical to the Nova SS. Where the name ACADIAN appeared on the badge above the grill, the Nova had the same shape with a bow-tie emblem.

Any pics? Or a link to the pic from that thread?

Im starting to think my car is a 69 with a 68 VIN. Previous owner had two Acadians one he used parts from and one that he rebuilt. I'm thinking he rebuilt the 69 using left over 68 parts like the VIN plate from the 68...

Unless someone did some rewiring, change steering column etc, the 68 would have the key in the dash, 69 in the steering column. You may well already know that but figured I better mention it in case.

Also, do your heater control ass'y levers slide side to side ('68) and enclosed in the metal frame of the dash or up and down ('69-74). and enclosed in the black plastic dash bezel? The dash is completely different for the 68's.

70 hood lip trim used one maple leaf

71 Acadian's hood script used a red back ground behind the word ACADIAN

The dash was definitely the first thing I noticed after checking out old brochure photos... It definitely has the 69 dash. It also has the badging on the A pillar like a 69...

The hood badge though is a signle maple leave... (70).

Anyone know if its possible to switch the registration to 1969? I think the previous owner may still have the VIN plate (I'll have to check).

If you have a ownership, that matches the vin "on" the car,  you would probably be better to let sleeping dogs lie.....    you just don't want to go there

 X2

If you have to tell the Licence Bureau the story, there could be legal problems for the previous owner.

Reviving this old thread... still looking for anyone that can redo emblems?

Anyone ever try it themselves? (sand down, fill pits, chrome paint)?

Also... I am in the midst of changing engines 307->350. So I would like to change the 307 V8 emblem on the front to a 350 V8 emblem. Were those used on any other vehicles so I can broaden my search?

Yeah, I've come to the realization that my car is actually a 69 (another topic for another day). Only emblem I am missing is the front hood "Acadian" script and now I need to switch to a 350 engine logo. Once I do, if anyone wants a 307 badge I guess I could sell it.

Thanks for the email, heres the 3 that we have. These are off the hood of '69's. The sail panel emblems that match these are the smaller ones. I believe the emblem they used in the original promo pic was a roof pillar emblem and was changed by production time. Thx Dave
