1981 Pontiac Grand LeMans

Hey guys, I'm looking at getting rid of my '81 LeMans. Love the car but I could use some extra money, as well as room in my garage. The car was put together 3 years ago, and has been stationary in the garage for about a year. I am the third owner (second on paper iirc). I'll try to break down the car as best I can for description purposes below. I would like the sell the car whole, but am not completely against the idea of selling as a rolling chassis, or completely parting out as well, so if anyone is interested in specific parts, feel free to contact me so I can gauge any interest. I'd like $3500 now $3000, but feel free to make offers (I would like this gone!). Located in London, ON.

Currently the car has been sitting for about a year, it will likely need a battery and some fresh gas, other then that it was on the road prior to that. The car could use some tuning (carb and ignition timing/curve, they are not my forte).

Body/Chassis:

Grand LeMans coupe, blue exterior, blue interior, power windows and power locks, around 80,000km, suspension is all factory (have Lakewood traction bars in the trunk included), Eagle alloys 15x7" in the front, 15x8" in the back (currently with P275/60R15's), front tires have atleast 75% tread remaining, rears are getting low. New gas tank. New brake lines. I removed the bench seat to add clearance for a floor shifter (currently a set of buckets I found in another 80's vintage Pontiac as installed), floors are good (front have been repaired), frame is solid (not the typical G-body rot), car has all of the factory G-body chassis bracing, did not come with a rear sway bar but I have one for it included, the body has a few small areas of rust (bottom corner of drivers door, bottom corner of bumper) and the odd ding/small dent, the paint has scratches/chips, but overall it could clean up nicely. The hood has a 4" FRP cowl scoop rivted on.

Engine:

305 cu.in High Output engine from a `85 Camaro with Vortec heads, the block and heads were hot tanked, new bearings all around (Clevite), pistons were replaced with Federal Mogul flat tops (same as the factory HO ones, 9.5:1 compression), factory bore (just resurfaced), Melling high volume oil pump, Cloyes double roller timing set, COMP Xtreme Energy 268deg. cam and lifters, 305 Vortec heads (059 casting, 58cc chambers), valve springs were replaced with factory GM yellow beehive springs from an LS6 with special COMP retainers to allow .550" lift, Weiand Stealth dual plane intake manifold, Holley 650dp carb, Holley mechanical fuel pump, 4pin HEI distributor with Accel cap, coil, plugs, wires, Hooker 1-5/8" long tube headers, 2.5" x-pipe with two Thursh welded mufflers (like Flowmasters), probably 1000km or less on the engine, it also have a brand new alternator and March adjustable bracket, I changed the pulleys to a multi-rib belt setup for reliability. There's also various other dress up or performance items I'm sure I'm missing. This engine works extremelyyyy well (I've had a lot of people doubt it was "just a 305", I sort of copied a Popular Hotrodding 305 build article, with a few twists.

Drivetrain:

'86 Grand Prix 200-4R conversion, TCI full manual reverse pattern valve body, 2800rpm Grand National stall converter, TCI lock up kit, freshly rebuilt 7.5" 10 bolt rear end (low mileage '81 malibu core, factory Posi, Richmond 3.73 gears), B&M Pro Stick gate shifter (with a matching TCI gate plate) the shifter aluminum cover was painted to match interior, and a wooden shift knob installed to match the dash

This car belongs to Matt, one of our techs. He's a straight shooter.

Those slope nose LeMans are a decent looking car, Daytona 500 winner too. Sure appears to have a lot of top quality work done already. What is the emmission status of that car, can it be licensed for road use? Nice to see someone with the proper knowledge and foresight build a killer 305.

I was debating sending him an email telling him he had to get approved for an ad because he was new! I checked his profile, saw London and figured he likely had some pull with the "boss" here!!!

LOL. When he told me this morning that he posted the ad I told him one of my moderators may have pulled it!

Haha it pays to know people eh? Thanks everybody for the kind words. It is exempt from testing due to the model year as Todd said, that being said cats are currently not on the car, nor is the EGR valve. PCV is intact, and the car came factory without air injection. Cats could certainly be added on, if that was a deal breaker for anyone.
