fuel filler vent tubes

Don't take for granted these are working!!!!  I've had a "blow back" problem with the 52 ever since it hit the road last fall. would spew back the fuel when trying to put gas in it. I just pulled the filler neck out of car & "YEP" the top tube attached to the neck was plugged with spiders cacoon & other $hit!!! Used a 'flex' brush to clean it out. Now I'm going to drop the tank "AGAIN" as it runs out of fuel at 1/4 tank on guage!!  I've set the float twice but now I'm thinking "maybe" the pick up is TOO high in tank???  Stock tank & pick up is a "welded" tube on side of tank? Sender is a "matched unit" for dash guage. Pics. are from the build time of car.Picture 118.jpgPicture 128.jpg

That's a great tip Pete. It always feels good to find what you know is the problem when troubleshooting!
