1980 Manco Mini bike. 3.5 hp Tecumseh engine. 2nd owner. Myself and former owner gave it a new plug, air filter and oil change every year since new.
Usually starts 1st pull. 1st start of season can be a bugger but after 1st run usally a ok,Does about 45 km hr with my 6ft 1,255lbs frame on it. Was my sons for last 8 years. Now selling to buy his 1st car. Great pit bike or campground bike. Reliable, brand new seat this past year. Not a rigid, has springs, skid brake, kill switch. Blast to run. Sad to see it go. Bike has a VIN# not some Chinese knock off piece of crap. This bike is 33 yrs old and solid. I nought it off a former co worker and bugged him for 6 months to sell it to me way back when.He used it for beer hoping cotage to cotage.
Not offshore junk that lasts 2 years. I have friends who bought pcket bikes and didnt get 2 years out of them. The only minibikes I am aware of that last this long and maintain value are the Honda Minitrails. They retail for over $1200 for one in this shape.
I paid for this bike and paid to maintain it over the years. I said my son can sell it to add to his car fund. We dont have to sell it.
You should be able to keep it as long as us and sell it for what you paid for it . I put it on kijiji and I been offered 55 plasma TVs, ATVS,snow blowers, rings, you name it. No cash. We will keep it if we dont get the cash for it. its fun to ride.
$700 firm

Best offer was $400 (phone call) and I polietly thanks but no thanks....as for that Ill give it to Zacks kids.... I know its Sprinter right now....no intrest in a track or campground bike? Money going to a good cause to continue this hobby with todays youth would be a positive thing. Lemmie know, thanks(on Sour Kraut Jrs behalf as well)
Nice looking little bike! It'd be great for campground hopping or trail riding for kids. At 6'3" and 270+lbs, it might be a tad small for me. I've got a little Honda XL100 and I suspect I look like a circus bear on a tricycle when I ride it.
It's minus 41 here with the wind chill - tough market for outdoor equipment, even snow mobiles.
Start puttin' your way around the campground in the spring with a for sale sign on it and I expect it'd be sold pretty quick.
iam 6ft 1 255 ish most likely alot more....and rde it easily with my son in front of me until he was 9/10(because he was afraid of it back then). its not hole shot bike but on pavement ith the 2 of us. I could hit 45+ km/hr easy. On grass prob half that speed. Im sure one day at a drag strip it would sell quick. Its has a NOS plastic energy drink bottle attacked to it so thats good for atleast a 1/2 km per hour hour down hill with wind pushing. I will keep it if Zack doesnt get his mula for it. It lasted 33 years...another 33 should be easy as pie. thanks for the bumps.

The problem is that everyone wants something for nothing, and what they have is worth Gold,so my attitude is,you don't get it,which reminds me of why the guy that's had a car in a field forever rotting, maybe that's his way of saying"I'll just let it rot then"I understand these thoughts. If you can't afford to pay the price for it....you just don't get it!!!!!Or another way of saying GFUS!!Keep your kids bike, unfortuneately he may have to find another income sourse, everyone likes to think that because you're selling something, you must be desperate, your little man needs to dig in...let this experience motivate him.....WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH.......THE TOUGH GET GOING!!!!!!
alot of food for thought in what you are saying Trucker....I appreciate and respect what your trying to say. Trust me....Jr. is motivated. He has some upcoming work for cash and he is banking on every penny. I dont know what GFUS means??? I posted the bike on here as recomondation from another member. I didnt think anyone would want it. We went camping and rented a cottage of a co worker. He said use the minibike when your there. He bought it brand new. After that weekend it was all my son could talk about. I bugged the guy for 6 months to buy it. Finally he caved. Any kid rides it wil want one. Ton of fun. Id rather pay $700 for my kid to be outside, have fun, learn how to change oil, maintain it, then spend $700 on a stupid video game system, atleast kid gets outside.Just my opinion. Might ride it to cruise night....sell it there. LOL. Roll in like Dumb and Dumber....lol
Not to poo poo the car thing but have you checked into insurance for Zach? It usually starts at about $400/month. That mini bike money might be better put to use in an education fund for post secondary school. Cars are money pits for young folks. My son knows a car is out of the question for a few years yet.
I lived on dirt bkies when I was a kid,I loved it,and still do.Yer right you learn how to fix stuff take care of you're stuff etc,I still ride 250MX and 450MX,You know you can have 2 bikes the same, one unmaintained and one well maintained, but people always want the price to be the crap price for the good one too, doesn't work that way.Someone who appreciates quality will come along, just remember,If it's cheap,it's always junk, somethings you just can't cheap out on....Good luck.
as mentioned in my 1st post about wanting a 60-80 GM RWD. if he buys now and fixes her up...He has time to save for insurance. I bank on $3500-$5000 a year for insurance. As I also mentioned earlier whether you are 16,18,21 and its your 1st car and 1st insurance...the hit is just as equal despite 16 or 21. Better now to take the bullet before college/trade school. Atleast by college his rates should be bearable and he can focus on school not working to pay insurance. The first 2-5 years will all be about insurance anyway with a part time job. I have an agent working with me in getting him best rate. He will be a secondary driver until he gets his full G licence. Then he can insure his own car, his own name. I did it at 15 with my frist car. Paid eveything my own, car insurance, motors....Insurance was $1200 a year for me. I made $3.25/hr. I managed fine. Now min wage is around $8hr for students and whatever he makes cash. He doesnt smoke, drink, drugs. Cars on brain 24/7. He will be just fine. he has $15,000 savings bond adding intrest from age 6. When he is 18/19 He will use that towards his education or save it for first time home ownership. He was MAULED by a dog and we sued. Won the case and money been collecting intrest ever since. He is NOT allowed to touch that money for anything but school or a house. He knows this.
It's good he has money set aside. One year for my son (living in residence) at University is going to be 14k. Add 2k for books, misc etc. Even ol' Dad has had to sacrifice owning an old car for the next 4 years. It's a small price to pay to see him get a good education.
i am sure Zack would give all the money back if he never got bit, I know I would have. 2 years of night terrors, fear of dogs and trauma didnt even come close to 15k. Zack is considering plumber/electrician. But gona major in automotive. A good apprenticeship will help him. Free rent as long as he is here. Like I said. Ill help him as much as I can.
You should have "fire & theft" on a car even if you are just wrenching on it.
