Perhaps we should get used to this concept of a non-Austrailian designed car with a RH dash installed. I read an article in cnn.com this morning that said Toyota will shut down it's factory in Austrailia by 2017. That is the last factory operating on Austrailian soil according to cnn?

So my question is: where the heck did Holden go?

Welcome John, Great looking old girl, methinks I spot an LPG/Propane system under the hood.
Running that myself only a wee bit bigger with two 600 CFM mixers.

 Thanks Glen,

I fitted the LPG some 25 years ago, just after that had the motor rebuilt (kept it stock) with GAS heads.

Its not the fastest thing on the block but cruises nice.

Not while the better half is in the front seat, its bad enough with the comments...imagine driving down the road wondering why the old girl won't go over 100km (60mph)

only to find someone resting there foot on the second brake pedal! cry

Except the car looks so cool with all 4 windows down that I drive it like that all year round.

Hi John, Nice car mate.
I notice the heater controls in the centre of the dash, mine are below the fuel gauge.
There is always some little things different.
I'm just up the Hume Hwy a bit in Shepparton

 Hi Rohan,

Thanks for the comments smile

Yes, heater in the middle, How long have you been a Ponti man?

I had someone ask me last week what my Ponti was worth...I just said "no idea my dad bought it new"...what do you think it might be worth?

How are you handling the heat up there?

I've had the 4 door for about 9 years. Rebuilt motor, p/g, brakes, shocks and springs . It still needs rubbers and paint and windlace. There is a small tear in each back corner of the hood lining but the rest of the inside is v good. It's insured for 8500 but around 7000. It has been painted before (org grey), roof in undercoat where rust in C pillar repaired. (not well).Paint poor. Work has stopped on this one, just drive it on club rego while I want to repair the convertible.

The convertible Nov 2010. Have build sheet and it is matching #. Last rego was 1983 and stored. It needs full rebuild everything. I payed good money for it because only 48 RHD and not many still around. I'm slowly collecting parts for it while trying to recover from back surgery. Something positive to focus on.

Yours being org paint and very clean and tidy, I would think 14-16000. But I am not an expert and soft spot for big Pontiacs.

The heat, low 40's, dam hot. Great a.c in house.

The 68 Pontiac has a 65 Impala dash  because of RHD

Yes that's correct. The same dash in the 4 door, but heater controls are to the right of the wiper switch on the flat panel.

I never stop being fascinated by these interesting RHD Ausie cars, neat to say the least. Was the 68 built in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada like most of the RHD cars sold there? It is amazing how popular old vintage North American cars are in places like Australia, New Zealand, U.K., Sweden and many other places in the world. Good to see these wonderful cars are being kept alive all over the world, not only the U.S. and Canada. Cheers mates. George.

Well I took the car up to Shannons to see what they thought. (for under the hammer) after a few phone calls and having a look around it he said we would start it at 15k, prob sell for 18K maybe even go over 20k. (good to know)

Bugger about the back problems, that will slow you down heaps, have you any pics of the convertible?

 Hi George,

As far as I know it was sent as a kit from Canada and assembled at GMH South Australia.
