Gm Vintage Documents for a 427 Parisienne 4 door hardtop (Sport Sedan)

What a rare car this would have been...

Parted out by......................... wait for it.........................NOT me! (But a family member, gotta keep the tradition alive!) Don't worry, it didn't happen recently, this was LONG ago.

For security reasons, part of the VIN is missing.

I'm guilty as charged. Another 427 out of a big car stolen by a Stevenson.

I can vividly see that car in my head.
There was a thread not long ago referring to the value of the 427 emblems on the fenders.

Chad, Mike remembers it as a sedan, not a 4 door hardtop. How about you?

I was wondering myself.
The docents do say sedan?

Sport Sedan. That would be a pillarless 4 door.

Like I was telling Mike, a great rabbit hunting vehicle, no pillars! (Just kidding, we only did that when I was young, those days are gone I'm afraid, too much to lose getting caught doing that!)

"39" as the 4th & 5th v.i.n. characters means pillarless "Sport Sedan".

Almost all 1968 big Canadian Ponchos had 327s from what I have seen over the years. 427s were a needle in a haystack deal.

Did you notice the car had dog dish hubcaps?

Remember there is a member with a Verdoro Green '68 Parisienne Sport Coupe L36 in Florida with a soft frame that is trying to get someone to buy it as opposed to him parting it. It would be a cool car with a new frame.

One thing to add to this (which I also just posted in a separate thread) is that these documents were obtained using only the partial vehicle VIN stamped on the front of the block. The car is long gone, destroyed. Only the engine survived.

Based on the documents indicating only 19 cars were made with the L36 in 4 models I wouldn't doubt that this was the only model 76439 made and surely a customer orderd car just after the release of the new 1968 models. In those days it was 6 to 8 week delivery on orders so that timing ties into new model releases. Are there any photos of the car ?

Sadly, not a single picture of that car Ray.

It sure would have made a cool cruiser...

Another big motor car purchased by someone in a prairie town.  Must have liked to burn up the gravel roads.

I agree,  If we could go back in time just the kind of car we would have ordered Carl, great for the family trips to the cottage and great for Dad every other day.

Thanks Carl for taking the time and spending the $$ to get the docs on that car. It's always interesting to read about cars like this.

Wasn't my money

67SD396 is the guilty one who parted out the car so he was the one to spring for the documents too! I just did the legwork getting the engine number and doing the application form.

George did an impressive job taking care of it. Vintage has great personal service. It reminds me a bit of NOS's customer service. It makes me proud/happy to be in Canada!

Is the 427 up and running in a car now?

This engine found its way into my 67 Beaumont from about 1993 to 2006.  Now Carl is a proud owner since I have opted for a different engine rather than rebuild the 427.

The guy who ordered the 68 4dr with the 427 is a farmer (now retired) in the Strathmore area.  When I found the car in 1992, it was parked in his barn with a broken rocker arm and 1974 plates on it.  Obviously, I had no idea about how rare of a beast I had found and robbed the engine.

I think you've seen a couple of pictures of the car that will provide a home for it. If you don't know, I'll give you a hint. It's black.
