I was raised on wild meat. No different than shooting a cow as long as it's in season & you have a license etc.
I remember when a guy roared through town with the antlers from his trophy elk mounted on the hood. Would have been in the 70's. He went up & down main street in Cranbrook, BC, honking his horn, then headed to the bar to celebrate.
A little while later, the Fish & Wildlife Officers came in looking for "the owner of truck with the antlers strapped to the front".
The guy stood up, proud as a pea****, claiming his prize elk.
The Officers then informed him that the antlers were from the endangered Rocky Mountain Caribou, that shooting one was a criminal offense, and would you please come with us...
Haa, good story. Just thinking out loud... Wouldn't it be odd to have a cow's head mounted on the wall? (Then I could truly say I only kill what I eat.)
