Here's a picture I took around 2006 of the old Golden Mile Chevrolet-Oldsmobile dealer sign. That thing was definitly from another era. Not long after I took this picture the sign was taken down.

 

Golden Mile was the name given to that stretch of Eglinton Avenue in Scarborough. It was so named because of the manufacturing boom after WWII made it a prosperous place. Lots of manufacturing plants at one time. GM had the Fridgidare plant that was later converted to the van plant just down the road from it, now long gone.
