GM Historical Vehicle options request - superseded by Heritage Request $$ 2013

The normal procedure for getting Canadian sold GM info "was" called REQUEST FOR VEHICLE OPTION INFORMATION  and priced at $73.45

last year or so you could have that request "upgraded" to a Heritage certificate priced at $ 118.65.......

ALL inquiries will be REQUEST FOR VEHICLE HERITAGE CERTIFICATE.....(ONLY)

No complaints here. The service is outstanding, even at the additional cost.

That being said, I won't be using the service again because I've got all I need in the way of cars and documentation. I'm set for life.

Looks like everybody getting in on Gouging the public!! Ont. Liberals have been caught many times & nothing happens so now it's OPEN SEASON!!!!! I never got the 52 done as I have traced it's line back to Welland Ont. The 64 Catalina being US is done thru PHS & I have traced it back to it's 1st. owner on my own, so I "cheaped" out there too!!!!! $ 118.00 is pretty steep just for a seal to be attch.????

Just wondering.....as members of the Canadian Poncho site (and other Canadian car enthusiasts) and

faithful  purchasers of Canadian made GM products and future customers ...........

could we not set up and sign a petition  to send to GM Historical Vehicle department asking them to rescind

this fee? A stamp that takes less than a minute to crease the paper for $45.20 seems excessive.

Sometimes doing something like this will send a message of how customers feel about what they are doing

and how it creates poor PR for GM Canada.

Just a thought.

I CAN'T COMMENT ON THE STAMP AS I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE, BUT I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THE SERVICE WAS WAY UNDER-PRICED TO BEGIN WITH. SOME PEOPLE HAVE PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO VERIFY THEIR CARS AND SOME HAVE NO WAY TO VERIFY. WE HAVE IT GOOD IN CANADA, AND WHEN COMPARED TO THE PRICE OF A CAR, IT'S CHEAP!

Still sounds like a deal to me! Also with the stamp on them now(be it big or small) people can not give you false info.

Sounds well worth the money to me.  I plan to get one for my next Canadian Poncho (whenever that will be).

Seems my 63 is on the wrong side of the GM information highway that seems to start with 64s.

On the GM Heritage site they mention PHS Automotive Services for Pontiac information http://www.phs-online.com/services.htm

Anybody know if this would get me information for my 63 Parisienne?....anyone use PHS?

Always somebody trying to wring an extra dollar out of people. Sad but many of these attempts fall flat and end up hurting both buyer and seller.

We'd all be screaming though if the announcement came that GM Vintage was closing down and documentation days were gone. We have to be careful here...

I don't believe PHS will be able to help you out as that is for vehicles built in the US.   Your 63 Parisienne was built in Oshawa, likely sold in Canada, and unlikely to appear in any US paperwork.   Keep in mind, US cars were built by the Pontiac Motor Division of GM, whereas the Canadian Built cars were built by GM of Canada.

 Exactly.

You will still get SOME information for your '63 from GM Heritage, just not an options list. You will get the the info. on your original colours (in  & out), engine type, and numbers produced of your model. They will charge you accordingly (40 something bucks). I just got it done for my '63 Oshawa-made Impala. For '64+ cars you get a lot more info.

The one difference being, the poiticians couldn't care less about us. I am convinced George is a genuine car nut like us and does care about us.

There seems to be a bit of confusion here.

I just did a Request for Vehicle Option Information for my 1970 Pontiac Parisienne, the form stated the total is $73.45 (including tax) which is what I was charged.  This fee has not increased recently.

The Heritage Certificate applies to these vehicles: 1967-81 Camaro/Firebird,1967-72 Corvette, 1966-72 Nova, 1967-72 Chevelle/Cutlass/Skylark/Tempest/Beaumont.

The Vehicle Option Information for the above vehicles is now only available as a Heritage Certificate with a seal to prevent unauthorized duplication.  This is at the higher fee.

For clarification, please visit Vintage Vehicle Services at www.vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html
