They're snap-in fender liners, unlike the Olds W30's that had red plastic front inner fenders. Not a popular option in the day but they do give it a distinctive look. Looks good on a black car.

unlike the chevelle / Beaumont , the GTO / Lemans post version has the same roof line , never noticed that !
