Is it a '70 or a '70 1/2? Yes there is a difference.Also is the price for a completed restored car or in pieces for the future owner to contend with? Where's the build sheet??

It is a 70 and a 70 1/2. They are one in the same. The 70 1/2 monicker was given to the 70 Camaro by the press and unofficially by General Motors. It's always been a heated topic of discussion and I have researched it numerous times. NastyZ28.com also covers this topic verifying this. In the past the misconception was that the split bumper was the 70 1/2, which is actually the RS option available on 70-73 Camaro's. also I forgot to mention in the ad if you follow the link it takes you to lots of pics in its current state including a pic of the build sheet.
As I remember Camaro, Corvette and Firebird had a short production run in 1970. I think it was about the middle of Feb. 1970 before the 1970's were introduced, making the 1969 model year last into 1970. However, I'm not positive, but I think Nova and Chevelle were not as late with the 1970's.
No there is a difference between the two.The '70 has the new tall buckets and the '70 1/2 has the left over seats from the previous '69 model yr-hence the short buckets with head rests.The split bumper designation has no bearing on what model yr the car is.It was offered as the RS option only.How to tell if it is a real RS '70-'73 Camaro is the round single lights are between the headlights as opposed to be below the front bumper and are long.No exceptions!

i have both a 69 and 70 the buckets are not the same, headrests are taller on the 69 as apossed to the 70, im wondering is the prices will ever rebound on these, right now its not worth buring money in them thats ment for pontiacs, my two cents
Not to get into a deep discusion about this, but this is the way I see it. After owning my 1970 Camaro SS for over 20 years now, owning this 70 Z28 and another 73 Z28, plus several others over the years, this topic has come up many times. I have researched it many times. Including tonight. I have yet to find any documentation verifying that Gm ever sold a Camaro as a 70 1/2. I could send links to all the major Camaro web sites covering this topic (every one of these sites all come to the final conclusion that the 70 1/2 is a promotional title and nickname) and still no documentation from GM about the 70 1/2. I would deffinately like to see any proof if there is any and answer the life long argument once and for all. Also Nasty Z28, Camaro Registry and other very reputable sites all say that the High back buckets were new for 71. In all my searches i could not find any info or topics on the 70 coming with high backs. Any help on this topic would be greatly appretiated. Thanks
All I can say is the Split bumper is one of my fav Camaros as well as the 77 Z28 as this car was my first taste of muscle growing up as my neighbour owned one..

my only problem with the 70 zed is that for a car that they only produced 7000 units it does not have the same value as say a 69, the 70 is a better car overall

Geez you guys! 701/2 term came from the late production 70 Camaro-- ALL 70 Camaros are 70 1/2 if you like that term. All split bumpers are RS models. All 70's had the low back buckets.(only year for second gens). 8700 and some built. I have one too

I was making love to my wife on the weekend............She asked me if I was comfortable doing the 69 1/2 can anyone help on this sensitive topic. I've heard of the 71,but not a 69 1/2.
