I've been meaning to upload pictures of my winter "garage project" and acknowledge Dale @NOS Parts for his greatly appreciated help in tracking down and suppling all of the necessary parts and peices to make it happen. Everything ordered fit like a glove (i.e; carpet, sound insulation, sheet metal, etc.)

Sometime throughout my cars 45yr life, someone installed what I'm assuming was a Borg Warner, and didn't care too much about the cosmetic apperance. Made it fit with whatever tools that were readily available (it was really butchered)  Over the winter I decided to have the Muncie completely rebuilt, and intalled a Muncie shifter handle from Hubbard's Impala Parts (instead of the Hurst).

Tried my best to document the repair steps along the way, and did my best to restore it to as close to factory correctness as possible.

(Completed engine and tranny install pics to follow)...

Cheers!

Kyle

The car has never been off the frame. Incredibly solid (considering it lived on Vancouver Island itès whole life near the salty air)

Excellent photos! You are lucky to have such a solid Beaumont. Can't be many more out there with floors like that.

...And the rebuilt motor. (No idea what HP it's making yet) I'm assuming 475'ish

427 Corvette heads + aluminum 427 intake (with Winters snowflake)

Fully hydraulic roller cam setup (Comp Cam "Mutha Thumpa")

Mated to dual 40 Series Flowmasters and ceramic coated Hooker Comps  ...it sounds like a pissed off tractor on steroids!

biggrin

Nice work there Kyle. Looks exactly as I would have expected from you to match the rest of your car. That is a pretty special car you have there my friend.

Very nice work. Liked that you even body filled around the hump.

That Muncie looks like new, if you don't mind me asking - how much to rebuild it?

The Muncie was built by Tim @Amco in Vernon. $1850 taxes inc. ($1100 for the parts)

It`s a wide ratio M20 with a stronger 1 inch output shaft, mated to a Centerforce Dyad II clutch+pressure plate.

The shifter is a rebuilt Hurst Comp Plus with Hurst backup switch.

A lot of cars came right from the factory with mangled-looking manual transmission shifter holes. They used a cutting torch.
