A friend of mine had a Maverick Grabber with a 302 in it back in the day. Believe me, he had to keep on top of it ... every day there would be a new rust blister. They were junk cars by the late 70s!
I was driving a '71 4 door Maverick (ex-girlfriend's brother's car) and had the driver's side coil collapse through the the rusty shock tower and carve open the inner sidewall of the front tire. I had to take a train back from Trenton to Cobourg, Ontario and I left the Maverick behind at a Trenton auto wreckers (I got train fare and a bit more for it).
If it's such a "good" car, trade your "older Corvette" for it.
Vegas, Astres, Pintos, Bobcats , Comets, Mavericks, Honda Civics, Toyota Corollas, Datsun B210s, etc. all rusted and fell apart back then ... but Ford really had issues throughout their whole car/truck line-up.
A pre 70s Falcon or Comet is a different story ... those econo-boxes are wicked when done up! For instance, a '64 Comet:

1974 mercury comet gt, for possible trade. Comet is in very good shape needs hole in passenger side fixed, fuel pump replaced, brakes overhauled, and windshield. All trim rings and pieces i do have. Interior has rips and cracks as it is a 74. Very rare in this good a shape. Has 302, v8 motor. This is a feeler ad to see if anyone has another rig to possibly trade, looking for another muscle vech, truck or car, older corvette possibly. Thks

It looks like a bumper car. Safety requirements back then.
I rather doubt that it only "needs hole in passenger side fixed". This was a very bad time for Ford ... their cars rusted out so much, and so fast, you could hear them falling apart at night if you couldn't sleep!
(I know, several other makes were rusting out just as bad back then, but I'm not a Ford guy)

I think there's actually a strong following for Comets and Falcons. Not so much for the BIG bumper years, but certainly for the 60's & early 70's models. For some reason, every one of these cars that I've seen has rusted out bumpers too.
