Power windows driver's control

My dad had a 67 Parisienne convertible with power windows. Apart from the usual 4-button control mounted on the panel door, there was another

standalone button for the driver's window as well. In other words, there were 2 switches on the same door for the same window. My car has no such

2nd button and I've never seen another on any other car. Has anybody ever seen or heard of this? Sorry, I only have outside pictures of that car but

none fromthe inside door panel I can show.

I've never heard of that. Are you sure it didn't have power locks? Rare, but the switch is almost identical to a single power window switch.

The switch had no label on it. I even had the idea that perhaps it had power locks but could somebody have messed up the wires? I remember one time the window not closing and my father bringing the car to the mechanic to get it fixed. This is why I had this idea, but the switch definitely operated the driver's side window whether it was meant to or not.

If the car had power locks my father never knew about it.

Forgot one more thing... the right hand door only had 1 switch.

I wonder if the master switch went bad and someone wired in that extra one to make the driver's door window work? Certainly it would not have been a factory item.

Very possible. Thanks Carl; I always wondered why that 2nd switch operated the window.

This sounds like what we in Telecommunications call a "Field Modification".
