Nope!   Found it in Coronation so is one of those fairly dry southern Alberta cars.  Mucho potential in this one.

I have one of those restraints NOS in GM box. Is it worth anything? Was thinking about putting it on the LeMans for some cruise night lawyer fun.

Is the letter dated at all, other than it is really old with that cool old GM Canada Logo on it. Are we to assume that Beaumont models  never suffered from this problem? OR are Beaumonts considered under the term Acadian?

That's a cool car Ken.

I wondered about the the omission of Beaumonts in the letter as well.  The letter has no actual date on it but I'm assuming it dates from about 1969-70.  It is part of a 4 page letter with a version in french as well so you know its truly Canadian eh? As for the NOS stuff it's probably worth $100.00 approx and is actually quite good to have as a torque strap, conversation piece on the car in any case.

As for you Vince, I'll tell you what.  I'm perfectly willing to swap the three 67's  I now have for the good stuff! (1966 Grandes of equivalent interest) I just seem to run across more 67's than 66's for some reason even though there are fewer 67 Grande's.  Its kind of weird. As I have said before I really don't need any more but every once in a while something comes up that just calls to me to save it. Tough on the wallet and not all that easy on the marriage either.

Oh well.  As for Jim, he seems to be AWOL from here.  Don't know what happend to him.  I know when I met him a few years ago the vibes i felt were a bit strange and tense.  May have had major marriage, financial, health etc.. trouble.  Still maddening though eh?

I'm sure you've all seen the cable restraints that attach from the engine manifold to the upper A arms in the 65 to 69 cars that were subject to the big GM recall.

When I was picking up the latest evidence of my Pontiac addiction yesterday (1967 Grande Parisienne 2 door, very light rust, good frame, shaded glass, 396 TH400) I found the notification letter in the glove compartment.  I remember my dad getting one of these and it was quite a big deal getting a letter from GM at that time). I don't know how many of you actually have seen these letters but here is one.

Ken, for starters, what the hell you doing dragging all those '67's home... No wonder I can't find anymore in Alberta and Saskie!!! (lol) Now I will have to find more '66's to fend off the '67 hoarding your doing lately!!!!

As for that letter, I posted one one here 2 years or so ago that was in a '66 Grande I had gotten for parts! Remember? You were suppose to get the remainder of those 6 Grande emblems that I sent to the swindler Grande Jim in BC! That twerp, for better of a not so nicer phrase still hasn't paid me for them, actually the site, nor the shipping on them!

If anyone is in contact with this a$$, please remind him of such! So much for being a nice guy, eh? I will try and find the link...

Reading your bio and noting you had a 396 and also seeing paragraph 4 of the letter I kind of think I know what you might have done to throw your fan belt and pull your mount apart. heh heh...  Beautiful car by the way. Talk about a guy that knows what he likes!   Do you have a bigger picture(s) some where else on the forum?

I broke the motor mount in my Beaumont in the first year. I also threw the fan belt. I can't imagine what I did to cause either of the these things. GM repaired both under warranty.

I sure wouldn't think the belt problem would be rpm related. And doubt the broken motor mount was brake stand related...
