LMP was a family run dealership up until about 2000, give or take a year or two.
Then bought by Mac Master Chev, ran as Mac Master Pontiac, Buick, GMC.
Changed back to the old LMP for marketing after they realized customers like the name better

From

http://www.lfpress.com/money/2010/05/25/14086951.html

As part of a restructuring in May 2009, General Motors announced the closing of 240 dealerships in Canada. It scrapped its Pontiac and Saturn brands and London was reduced to three GM dealerships

One of those to get the axe was Brian Finch Pontiac Buick GMC on Southdale Rd., the shop Ryan's father, Brian, started more than 20 years ago. The Finch name had been attached to the auto giant since Brian hung up the shingle on his first dealership in Welland in 1985.

A deal was worked in which Finch would continue under a new configuration at a new location - the old home of London Motor Products. It took a while to iron out the details, but in January the new shop was launched under the new name at 640 Wonderland Rd.

Hope this helps

My Grand Father bought the 69 GP I had, there.

After I fixed it up

Sorry no pic of my fathers home made galvanized tin quarter panel fix from 1980

I wonder if the wreckers have any LMP plates in London ?

Hope this helps

I did some digging. LMP was originally at 507 Richmond St. in London (in the downtown core area). They opened there in the late 1960's. This is the location I remember going to as a kid in the early 1970's. I think they moved to Wonderland Road and Oxford St. sometime in the early 1980's.

I did some digging and found this for you:

It's a metal one so it must be fairly early. It's in decent shape and it's yours for the cost of shipping if you want it.

LMP was around in the late 50"s. Bought my first car there. A Chevy BelAir 2 door htp (used). Sales mans name was Bill MacDougal and I think it may have been his first sale as a car salesman. LMP was in drag racing but with a lesser degree   than some other dealers. I remember one car being a 66  or 67 dark green GTO

I don't know much about London Motor Products.  However, I did buy the six month old 1968 Ram Air 400 Firebird from the Chev dealer in Peterborough.  The story I got was that the guy had the car all done over, when brand new.  The engine was balanced and blueprinted, headers added along with trac bars, rear rims widened and big tires added to the back.  The Camaro spoiler and black rear paint treatment were also done.  There were LMP decals on the valve covers and sides of the trac bars.  The guy traded it in on a 427, 435 hp Corvette.

Keith, when I saw this old thread revived I thought of your '68 Ram Air Firebird. I haven't heard from you in ages... I hope all is well in Corvette land.

I do remember all the LMP dealer emblems whenever I visited London where 2 spinster aunts of mine lived. Hamilton also had their own version, HMP, or Hamilton Motor Products on Main Street just west of Bay. It belonged to the Slote family and remained so even after Mr. Slote died. Mrs. Slote went on to become the Mayor of Ancaster in 1973 (replacing my dad who stepped down). She remained Mayor for a long time. I went to school with her son Mike.

There were quite a few "Motor Products" dealers - London, Huron, Hamilton plus I'm sure many others. We used to call LMP "Lumpy's" back in the day.

And don't forget Stratford Motor Products (John Waldey) sponsored Jerry Eckman in the Pennzoil

Pro Stock Firebird back in the late 80's. Didn't his crew blow the intake manifold sky high in the pits,

can you say hidden NOS..........YIKES!!!

I should have remembered SMP as I worked there 1997-2000. John was a good guy. I wanted to buy a 58 Plymouth but the price was too high. Seller said if I had any NHRA memorabilia he'd take that on trade towards the car. I mentioned this to John and he had me come to his house. He had a closet full of NHRA driver's uniforms and gave me 3 or 4. That was enough to get the car down to my price range.
John also let me take home a number of performance cars including a new WS6 Trans Am, a trade in Grand National etc. Likely the best dealership I ever worked at and the only one where all the departments got along with each other.
