67 Radio pointer color

Hey guys! I am in the process of cleaning up a stock AM radio & dash bezel to replace the aftermarket/cut bezel in my car.

The radio I have is cleaning up nice, but the pointer is missing. I was going to replace it with a orange pointer out of another radio I have. My buddy has a quite original 67SD. The radio in his car has a green pointer, similar color to the green paint on the dash bezel. A quick google search showed some orange pointers but its hard to tell without a close up of the radio.

Orange or green?

My original radio is more red than orange.

Interesting. Another difference is the 'turquoise' paint and white letters, vs chrome with black letters.

here is the radio i'm cleaning up, notice the chrome/black letters...

And here is the one with the green pointer...

I remember reading on here that the white lettering and black lettering "Beaumont" radios are a year apart (different years).

*Disclaimer* I'm not a Beaumont expert.

IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN THE WHITE LETTER IS FOR 67' AND THE BLACK LETTER IS FOR 66'

HERE IS A PICTURE OF MY 66' RADIO WHICH HAS A REALLY DARK ORANGE POINTER IN IT

IT WAS PUT IN STORAGE FOR OVER 40 YEARS

YOU SAID THE POINTER WAS THE SAME COLOR AS THE BEZEL PAINT?? I WOULD THINK SOMEONE PAINTED IT TO MATCH MAYBE??

THE UPPER RADIO PICTURES HAS CORRECT KNOBS AND BEZEL TRIM RINGS

AND THE LOWER PICTURE OF THE RADIO WITH THE GREEN POINTER ALSO HAS THE WRONG STYLE BEZEL TRIM RINGS THEY ARE 66' BEHIND THE 67' KNOBS???

SO IT DOESN'T LOOK ALL ORIGINAL AND BOTH HAVE BLACK LETTERING SO I THINK THEY BOTH ARE 66 RADIOS ANYWAYS??

DO THEY NOT HAVE A DATE STICKER ON THEM ?

MINE DOES AND IT HAS BLACK LETTERS AND IT IS DATED 66'

HOPE THIS MIGHT HELP ANY,

DALE

Here's a silly question, what color are the pointers in the speedo, fuel guage, etc?    I presume they're orange, so I'd go with an orange pointer in the radio.    Testor "Fescent Red" model paint is readily available and is the correct color to repaint it.

Here is a photo of my dash.  The pointers are the same color as the radio.

Ok guys thanks for the info. Just as reference my friends radio turns out to be a 66 per the decal. I can't read the decal on mine, but assuming also a 66 as it has the chrome faceplate. It seems everyones pointers are red/orange so the green pointer is a mystery, but red seems to be correct.

I'll probably put the 66 radio in anyway, and might even paint to 67 specs if I can find some matching turquoise paint. It is going to look great compared to the 90's sony that is in there now!

IF YOU CAN TAKE THE GREEN NEEDLE OUT OF THE RADIO AND SCRATCH THE BACK SIDE OR HIDDEN PART OF IT I'M SURE IT WILL PROBABLY HAVE ORANGE PAINT UNDER IT!!

AND YES THE STOCK RADIO LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER IN THE DASH!!!!
