Is there any code stampings to look for?  I picked up a 12 bolt posi , looks to be a 3.08 by spinning it. came out of a 65 parisienne with a 327 I'm told.  been overhauled , no posi tag.   Here are some stampings I found?  but look more like the rebuilder stamper em? they were on the passenger backside near the center section.

I don't have a use for it ..yet ... LOL !  ( ahhhhh.. the life of a  hoarder ... )  evileye

I don't have the 65 codes here at work but I can look tonight.

65 would be 3.08 or 3.31. I imagine 3.55 may have been offered but I've never seen one or heard of one.

From what I've seen,

4 speeds all had 3.31

327 powerglide had 3.08

283 powerglide had 3.31

Makes sense then, actually, I lied. I remember a 12 bolt is actually 3.07....

If you are looking for a place to put it Rog, I have a couple of spots, where it would be out of site and kept lubricated in the summer months, seeing as you don't have a use for it yet....................... winkbiggrin

when I get home from the northern job,, I will scrub somemore, see if I can find teh codes. .. it has the 4 control arm mounts, did they all ?

nice thing if it is a 3 series carrier.. good up to 3.73 ,  if some one was inclined to upgrade the gears.

it has been stored inside all these years,  I'm trying to get the 327 that was in front of this diff as well.

I'll ponder it's future Dano65...wink

It has to be a 3 series if it's original, 67 is the first year for 2.73 12 bolt.

Not any more of that for me, I'm a new man!

As a matter of fact, I don't even own any A or X bodies any more. I can't part out B bodies for anything except parts for my B bodies.

I've looked in a couple parts books, they don't show the 65 codes, but start with 66-67.   Time to pull the cover off and count the teeth.

I've got the codes for 65 for full size Chevy but none of them start with M or B (i.e. MB or BG from that picture)

Same here... Checked my '58-'68 Pontiac, #682 effective Nov '67 and a couple of older Chevy books effective '69 and '70.... They are start out in '66 for the codes and are all too new for the '65 codes.. I too will dig deeper.. But the funny thing is, if I remember correctly, I pulled a 3:31 out of that '65 Biscayne, the same car that I had pulled the pedal set and had given to Carl, and I was able to decipher the code using the chart that I have posted on here...

I know the 4 speeds were 3.31 and it would make sense the 3 speeds were too.

Way easier to do a disc brake swap now than when it's in the car........I wish mine would've been out when I did the brake swap ((((

I couldn't find any more ID marks .,    but did find that it does have the RED posi OIL tag on the filler plug on the pumpkin.. that is cool !!  I was looking for the metal tag that I thought would be bolted to the cover.

nice !!!

I just don't have a B body to put this one in....yet ...
