Hey all been workin on the 49 in my spare time,almost ready to start sanding down the body. Just thinking ahead and lookin at the bumpers.I think the bumperettes will polish ok but bumpers will need rechrome or replace. I was lookin at the bumpers from the 54 and they look very similar.Just wondering if they are indeed the same other than the bumperettes.I can find 54 bumpers new but not 49s so far.
Just checked my Nat'l Chevy catalogue for Bumper #'s 49 to 52 are the same & 53-54 have different #'s I'm assuming this is a cdn. 49 Pontiac [based on Chev] Nat'l chev's price is $ 350 per bumper [U S ] ready to go + they have Kits for inst. I've used them for lots of parts for my 52 Poncho but did find the G/box won't fit a Poncho!!! Don't think you'd get a bumper plated here for $350. They are located in St. Paul Mn. Usa

Taking a closer look at the old ones off my 54 and the ones off the 49 I think they are indeed different.I got the two nos ones off a guy on ebay for the 54 lauerentian.I checked his site and he does have one nos front bumper for the 49 so just need to find a new rear or check to see what they would charge to redo this one.I think the bumperettes will polish out but if I run across a new set I may just pick those up as well.
