Contacted seller and was told the following info: Ontario car, restored 14 years ago with some rust repair done (welding, etc.) - $20,000 spent on it by previous owner, chrome was replated, top is mint, everything works, drive anywhere.
I'm thinking it's not quite what I'm looking for but looks good in the pics - unknown rust repair makes me nervous and the car is about 5 hours away from me to inspect in person - would be different if it was "exactly" what I was looking for, I'd make the trip. Plus 283 and PG might be a little lacking in the performance dept (though don't have personal experience with that combo in a full size).
Thought I'd share here in case anybody is interested.
For sale ,67 Pontiac Parisienne 2 + 2 ,( Pontiacs answer to chevy Impala's SS model) automatic 2 speed power glide , 283 V8 , bucket seats , centre console , black top ! craigar rims and have a set of tires with spinner hubcaps !Canadian Parisienne 2 + 2 have the same frame as the 67 impala SS ,unlike the US Catalina 2 + 2 although they look the same !
Very nice car but I might be a little bias??? The rearview mirror looks strange (weren't they all circular?) and it seems to be missing skirts. That rear bumper sure looks great! About the 283 and PG ... it's enough power unless you want to peel and be heard from blocks away.
You are correct on the mirror..it was probably replaced when restored for one that you might actually see something in.. As for skirts, I believe they were an option on the 2+2, not standard equipment.

'67s are pretty much my favourite big Pontiacs from the decade, so I like it too. There's definitely value in this one, and it would likely give somebody many smiles per mile on a nice summer day. There was a mention of rivets in the description of rust repairs, so whomever was interested should give it a thorough lookover before plunking down the cash, IMHO.
Thanks for the info about the 283 and PG. I've never owned one (drove one around the block many years ago, but the memories are foggy) so I've wondered how this combo works with modern traffic.

I'm hesitating at the moment because deep down I really want a midsize... an A-body (or a... yikes! B-body Mopar... sorry! )... but I do have a soft spot for big Pontiacs, '67-8 in particular, even better in ragtop form.
I'll have to think it over some, whether I stick to my guns and continue to search for what I really want, or do I succumb to the draw of a big Poncho... there are worse decisions to be made for sure. Problem is I can only have one so I want to do it right...
I'm also kinda leaning towards no rust ever, because I have spent a lifetime dealing with iron oxide and would like to treat myself to something that has never ever had any significant rust on it. I'm not in a huge rush either.
...but all that could change if the right one comes along... lol (it has in the past)
The problem usually arises when I consider my budget, so what I want and what I can afford don't always align... Meh, it'll happen one of these days I'm sure.
11K for a nice clean 2+2 ragtop is obviously a very good price. And you'd think it would make this car attractive to the market. It's a 2+2 Rag! I mean, how many were made...what ..700? Compare that to a 67 Impala SS Rag.

Having lived in NB, and specifically in the area this car is in, if the rust repair was done, and if done well.. I'd be looking closely.. assuming this is something that tickles your interest... just my $0.02..

Thanks Shawn, I should probably have been more specific in that it doesn't have to be a Canadian Poncho as I have widely varied tastes in cars that includes other brands. I realize I have a better chance of getting something non-rusty if I open myself up to southern US cars, though every now and then a really clean Canadian car makes an appearance - seen some good stuff from the west from time to time. I made the deal on a southern '69 Custom S in Aug that was priced really well, had no rust on the frame, floors or trunk, but some fill in the quarters - had the bank draft in hand, agreed to pay for the car that night and take it home with me, but it wasn't to be as his friend sold the car that day (a little complicated - I won't go into details) and it was gone before I or the seller even knew about it. Car looked good and was priced right and would have been a good car for me - didn't happen, I got over it.
I've lived in NS all my life, and know rust intimately. I've owned and "fixed" many rusted out pieces of ...well... less than optimum vehicles. I know what it feels like to have my skin itch from rust flakes getting under my clothes, I know what rust tastes like, I know what rust flakes in my eyes feels like, I've had many a tetanus shot in my lifetime. At this point, if I have the choice I would rather avoid frames that have been welded up as a rust repair - they may be "good as new" but not to me - I would never buy a car that had pop-riveted floor repairs (not saying this car does for sure...) as I have experienced this many times in my life already.
Good ones are out there for the right price, you just have to look harder, which I plan to do.
Sorry, didn't mean to go into a long explanation, but just to clear up any misconceptions I might have left everybody with. The 2+2 in this ad is a fine looking car, and probably would be a good one for somebody to enjoy, but the more I think of it the more I'm convinced it's not for me.
Getting back into the hobby after being absent from it for years has made me do a lot of soul searching. I'm finding that as I go through the process of finding a car, my ideas have changed a lot from what they were just 10 short years ago.

This is the thing...if its pretty much rust free and solid, there is so many little details you could work on. And besides, doing just that is 3/4 of the fun of these cars.
But It's easy to understand your total aversion to rust Mark. And given that it had some serious work. It's anyone's guess...
But Someone from here should at least go look and report back on it! It even has a console!
I bet it'll not be on long.

Of which there are probably only a couple hundred left in various states of repair...hence why mine will get handed down to one of my boys...
FWIW, I typically wouldn't post an ad for a vehicle I was interested in on any messageboard... don't need the competition.
