66 Pontiac trunk paint

I know the inside of the trunks in 66 is supposed to be body colour. Can anyone confirm exactly what gloss it should be? Is it the same as the exterior paint? Somehow, in the back of my mind it seems to me that it's more of a semi gloss.

I would assume it's the same for Beaumonts and Acadians of the same year, so if anyone has a nice low mile that they know to be original in the trunk, what do you see?

Carl  the paint in the trunk of my car seems to be the same gloss as exterior of the car! Especially on the inside of trunk lid!  I can send you some pix if needed!  Bob.

Thanks Bob, that's what I needed to know. After I posted, I realized I could have just asked you, but figured I'd leave it up here in case any others wanted to know as well.

My project car has a grey splatter painted trunk

While doing the rear mount replacement panels  "we" can see white paint

I know the trunk s/b white

heres the problem

The splatter paint is sort of a Zolatone type

I am not going to sand down the whole trunk (so don't recommend it)

wonder if I could just spray white paint over it confuse or source a all white splatter paint, that is compatible to whats there now ?

I "think" you could paint over it but you may not like the texture. Is there anyone local who could soda blast it?

Starting in 1966 in Ste Thérèse the cars built there switched over to acrylic lacquer. That plant was the one cranking out the full size Chevrolets & Pontiacs. The Oshawa plants that built the mid-size cars continued with acrylic enamel through 1968.

I think I will try the paint   the texture will be OK   its just a old car

never will be anywhere, to have someone ever figure out whether it should be splatter or not    maybe just as easy to re-splatter it  and paint firewall black

Leave the trunk closed, we won't tell...

best answer yet     I scan a photo of a correct white trunk and print it off and have in a book    and leave the hood shut too and most of the time leave the car home  lol

Just to chime in.
My 65 CS trunk interior is body colour and very close to the same gloss as the exterior. Minus the waxing, of course.

Thank you    I think I will try paint after we finish body mount panel repair    I don't want to hand sand it or media blast it    I think if its white it will be ok with some texture to it

Just drive it, don't worry about the stupid shows. Talking to the customs officers is a lot more interesting than most people at a car show.
