Taillights and reverse lights for 1956 sedan

Hey guys

The reverse light lenses and brake light lenses on my 56 are pretty rough. The brake light lenses are still in one piece, but they are plastic and cracking. The reverse light lenses are made of glass (?) and one has broken in half and another has a few chips taken out of it.

I'm trying to find good quality or reproduction lenses that will match but haven't come across any. Any tips as to where to find some or what I can do to get these old ones back in shape? I'm not looking for show car quality... just hoping to have some lenses that are in one piece or prevent them from deteriorating further.

If you guys know how to fix em or come across any let me know

if they are still in one piece I've found the Turtle Wax headlight restorer to 'help'

won't make 'em perfect but will clean up what you have.......used it in on my 66 Impala rear lenses and it seemed

to make them brighter............

Not infrequently they show on ebay - just do a search for 1956 lenses and if you get no hit now, save the search and have them send you an email when one come up. Be sure they are a matched pair, there were several companies that made them way back when, and if you have one from one mfg. and the other from a different mfg., they won't look identical.

In a month or two they should show up.

To increase the odds, also do a search for 1955 lenses - they are the same.

as for the b/u lens i lucked out and found a pair of nos lite ass. from swap meet in abbotsford,bc. they are rare to find

The US and Cdn Lights are the same front and back. The back up lenses are hard to find. AMes and performance years still have them listed.
