A 62 Parisienne Side Moulding Question

What gives with the wide quarter trim on the 1962 Parisienne? The two 62 cars I looked at this morning, a 4 door and the 2 door I bought, both had the long wide quarter mouldings in two sections on each side. Both cars looked like they were factory made that way. I looked at my ragtop when I got home, and mine are just one long moulding on each side. Very strange.

my hardtop was 2 piece?

possible answer.. is the american trim different?

Are they both Parisienne's??? Could be diff. with Strato Chief, Or Laurentian!!! Just athought Pete

I seem to remember my 62 Parisienne Convertible having one piece rear quarter trim. I have noticed the 2 piece trim on 2 door Parisiennes but have never compared hardtop to convertible. Maybe the convertibles have one piece rear quarter trim??? Or yes maybe the American trim could be cut down and used and maybe it's one piece? Good question.

 Yes, all three cars are Parisiennes. I'm guessing the converts were different for some reason.

Hey Carl, that is a beautiful car. I'm guessing it's a Bonneville, by the fender V8 script.

 Dave, that would be a Cdn. rag top!!!! US Pontiac's didn't have V8 emblems, didn't need them, as "ALL" US full size Pontiac's came with V8 only!!!!

 I think my 62 V8 emblem is on the rear quarter, not the front fender.....or is that a different year?

For 62 Cdn. it "should" be on the frt. fender as in picture that Carl posted.

 Hmmm.....I've got some emblems on the rear quarters of the parts car and the corresponding holes on the quarters of the convert. I'd better look again. Maybe I'm losing my mind !!

Actually, I believe the last 62 I wrecked had the fender pieces as well as the upper rear quarter badges. Maybe the rear ones just denote "Parisienne" and not "V8".

Rear chrome piece is a crest above the moulding......hard to see in this pic

Hey Poncho 62, that is a beautiful machine. Wherever it is now, I'm sure the owner just loves looking at it !! Even in the state it's in, I enjoy looking at my burgundy 62. The red seems to really suit this year.

Just had an excellent idea. I'll take the quarter trim off and look for parts numbers. If it's two piece from the factory, each piece will have a parts number.

Here's the skinny, groovy guys and gals. The two piece rear quarter mouldings are factory. I just went to a fellow's house today to look at his 62 Parisienne convert, and he has the two piece rear quarter trims with parts numbers. Weird, eh? I took the right side mouldings off the rear quarter of my 2 door hardtop today. Both pieces have factory part numbers, and one has a special lip that the other one snugs into.
If anyone wants, I'll be happy to give you the two part numbers off these mouldings. I'm guessing a change was made part way through the year. Even the two piece ones are very heavy. I bet the one piece trims weigh a ton !!

Just to add my input re: the side moulding trim. My 62 Parisienne conv. has the 2 piece rear moulding. Its build date is Oct 31, 1961
