Having trouble finding the correct answer, and before I commit to a purchase from island sight un-seen I need to know for sure. Can any one tell me the length the drive shaft needs to be. My car is a 65 SD with a 4 speed trans m21, how long from u joint to u joint on centre, yolk length, shaft diameter. Thanks again Lawrence. Sorry it,s a Beaumont.

I'm sorry I don't have a measurement for you, but in case you don't know, it will be identical to a powerglide car. Someone here must have one of those. I am betting 64-67 will all be the same with the exception of a 67 with a Turbo 400.

I checked my interchange book. 64-66 all, 67 with manual trans.
I also happen to have a rolling frame with the powertrain still in it here. It's a 66 with a powerglide. I went to measure, it's a bit hard to tell but 60 3/16" - 60 1/4" is what I came up with, centre to centre. Check your's to make sure that makes sense but that should be right.

I replaced the driveshaft in my '65 Chevelle (as it had a large dent) with one out of later model Chev Van bought near me at a local auto wrecker for $40, length was good, around 61", same taper in the shaft as the original.

You are smart man most would not do that.... gotta be original lol
I just measured mine center to center 59 5/8 This is the driveshaft that came with my 67 Beaumont, 327, M20, 10 bolt.
Carl
Does your book show different driveshafts for a 10 bolt and 12 bolt cars?
My 10 bolt is gone now, 12 bolt is in. I just mocked up the drivetrain 2 weeks ago. I was able to get the driveshaft in but that the slip yoke was bottomed out. I'm going to either get it shortened or find a better fitting one.
