Gotta be super rare if it's real. Maybe 10 or less? Anyone?

427  and convertible  4 speed     definitely under 20 wink  especially in a 68     he says he has a 454 and a 5 speed    doesn't say if it goes with it

George at GM Vintage says there are 19 Parisiennes in ALL body styles that were built with a 427. Between DaveJ and myself we know of the whereabouts of 3 of those original 19 engines, but I don't think any of those 3 are a 4 speed block code.

I am not doubting George but 19 does seem very low for production. No doubt it is rare, regardless.

I went to look at a red 68 2+2 convert in Langley BC about six months ago. Barn find 427 T-400 posi, I believe. He wanted over 8 big ones for it, and I just couldn't do it. Needed restoring big time, but very cool. He was pondering swapping for my 65 442, but once again, I just couldn't quite see it.
Nice vintage Pontiac sign over his shop door, and very nice fellow. I think he finally swapped it for a near mint eighties Eldorado convert.
I had a green 68 2+2 rag as a youngster, so I'm kind of partial to them. It was just a 327 powerglide. Needed a bit more power, as I recall !!

He is a member on here and we saw it advertised then.  Definitely an interesting car.

Maybe you can make that 4 of the 19. I will check the code on my engine and see what it says.

You might be right. The part I remember was him getting a Caddy in trade for it. He even put a picture of it on here. Bit of a coincidence with them each getting the same type of trade.

I've been thinking, I could get quite excited with a 65 or 66 Custom Sport Parisienne 427. I'd even settle for hard top automatic !!

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the fellow with the red 68 2+2 convert 396 was telling me about the 68 (I think) 427 Caprice wagon he'd recently purchased. I think that's where I got confused. :)

You'd have to settle for a 409 if a 65, one of the Holy Grails of Canadian Ponchodom

I could settle for a 409 if I had to. I could, I could.....I've only seen the biggest motors in the Chevs, nothing bigger than 396 in the mid-sixties Ponchos. I guess there were only a handful, like people have been saying. Heavy sigh...

The fellow that sold me my 62 Parisienne 2 door hard top parts car last month also has two 60 Parisienne convertibles for sale. They both need work but seem reasonably priced and come with parts cars. I had a 60 Pontiac once, so I keep eyeballing the ads on CL or UsedVancouver. Can't remember if these are on both sites or not, but the cars are in Langley BC along with about twenty other cars he's got for sale. I think they're both 283 cars.

I never knew the 65 came in 348 or 409. I've only seen or owned them in 283, 327 or 6 cyl. It's also not unusual for me to pay close to $1000, or more, for a parts car now. Who would've thought?

Don't worry, I'm still cheap. I suppose a thousand bucks just isn't worth much anymore. :)

No 348 in 1965, I think he was referring to a 340 horse 409 Dave.

Don't know what I was thinking. Of course there was no 348 engine in 65. Last year must have been around 61 maybe? Possibly 1960? I'm getting old and my brain isn't always what it could be !!

Maybe if I play my old Beach Boys record it'll all come back. I was just looking at the cover today. :)

I think there was still a 348 truck engine up to 1965??

Thanks

Randy
