I imagine this would just grind the paint off the car, flapping around in a nice over-night wind. Some things are better in theory.
I would just throw up a pop-up tent on the ground.

In 1980 I accompanied a friend when he went looking for cars. He found a clean and sharp 1975 Olds Omega Salon hatchback coupe with a 350, FE2 suspension, Rocket wheels and new B F Goodrich TAs. He stretched out in the back with the seat folded down and proclaimed the car to be good "for wenching". It even had a separate light switch for the back area, IIRC it didn't need the ignition on to work. He bought it and had fun with it through 1984, at which time he got married.
The Hatchback Hutch as they were called were offered for the X-car hatchbacks starting 1973 but after 1975 they just sort of stopped promoting them. They also had a hutch for the Vega / Astre hatchbacks.
