64 Sport Deluxe Convertible

I just came across a 64SD convertible it has the 8667 code. It is in original condition and in remarkably excellent condition next to zero rust no damage interior is complete and new looking. Other than a crappy peeling off white  paint job over the original red and the back window zipper is broken the car is mint.The lady who owns it is the second owner and is willing to sell, however, she says that her grandson in-law has offered $5000.00. I got the impression from her that if I offered more she may sell it to me I am willing to offer more but I am not sure what the car is worth. My question is what would be a fair offer?  Any advice would be appreciated.

As a guess, almost rust free 64 SD rag with decent interior and if all the trim is there, it's gotta be worth a good solid 8K-9K in my unprofessional opinion.

Or I could be way off...

SD s/r 8867 - 8667 is Custom convertible (typo)
Is it running and what is the frame like??
Really hard to say without seeing but sounds somewhere in the ball park.

Thank you all, for your input and yes you were right I did type it wrong. I will climb all through out it looking for defects, but I was impressed by my initial investigation, it even had the opticlean bottle and air cleaner. I will visit the owner this weekend and make an offer, hope she takes it.

Sounds interesting, keep us updated. Is it a V8 car and does it have any options?

Please post photos of this rare gem! Sounds like a great car, I'd pay $5k for that, if it is in as nice of condition as you say.

8567 = 6 cyl Beaumont Custom convertible
8667 = 8 cyl Beaumont Custom convertible
8767 = 6 cyl Beaumont Sport Deluxe convertible
8867 = 8 cyl Beaumont Sport Deluxe convertible

If its truly solid, and there are a number of places you need to check, then at $5000 it would appear to be quite reasonable.
You don't show where the car is located so we can't summize what it might be like.

Please post some pics of the car and a copy of the data plate. Then we'll all be able to offer a more "educated" guess as to its value.

Hi every one. I went to see the owner to make an offer, she is considering it and will let me know. She was kind enough to let me take a few pictures I was unable to access certain parts of the car due to obstacles or obstructions but I did take a few. I was wrong on the original colour its white and the red under is the surface rust, could not find any parts that its through yet and its never been dented.

Looks like the same color combo as mine and seems to have all of its original SD trim. Neat to see even the rear rocker molding and original seat covers. I guess they added an extra molding on the sides to prevent door dings. Nice to see such a complete car, definitely has lots of potential. Thanks for the pics and the update.

If that car is as solid as it looks I think 5K would be a great deal. THAT is nice car, looking pretty unmolested other than hoses, plug wires etc.

Looks like the heater core leaks and got bypassed but that's to be expected.

Yes  thanks for sharing    Looks like a great project especially if you can do the body work yourself    or might be a cool survivor to run as is

Ya looks good, Mostly body work by the looks of it.
If you do get it be careful taking off the lower mouldings, the clips are rare as hens teeth.

Did we have those air cleaners on any of the years of Beaumont?

The Novas apparently did. I would have guessed the Beaumonts did too. Never too old to learn.

Nope,  never in canada,  it sure is a funny car,  lots of inaccuracies under the hood,  the carpeted trunk floor may me a huge problem too

Air cleaner, rad cap, oil filler cap, top hose, what else is there Dave?

I know you know these things down to the last nut and bolt, so I imagine there's a bunch I don't know...!!!

day/night mirror is wrong,  wire looms,  looks like the inner fenders and valve covers have been repainted,  almost looks like the firewall around the heat box too.  alternator is a replacement,  obviously had lots of engine tuneup stuff done over the years,  the repaint could reflect body damage. trans cooler, why?  cause for more investigation,  master has been replaced.  the ash tray has been repainted and the cig lighter is the wrong one,  the full-on repaint would lead me to further investigation,  even the door jambs have been touched up,  i am sure there is rust in the car,  that wide lower trim will cover up alot.

None of this should affect the offer of 5000,  i think the old lady would be crazy not to take your offer,  after all its in a dirty non-runner state, needing a complete resto, taking space in her garage, and getting more and more delapadated buy the minute,  at the same time i think the buyer would be getting a good deal too,  if prepared to sink at least 5000 to get it in a presentable condition,  then for 10000 total investment, its a good driver and sale-able if desired.

been-there-done-that before,

Also, concider the underside, is it a soggy piece of wet bread, or is it a solid original?  any panels been replaced or braze welded?  any evidence of frame damage?  trunk floor and pans??,  i would be under it more than in it if i was standing in her garage.

Who cares if it runs or not,  should not really affect the price for a serious 64 beaumont guy

Would appear to have good potential. I wouldn't go too much above 5 thou as depending on what end result you want you've got a pile of moolah to put into it.
All the hard to find little bits appear to be there.
