RE: update on the 49 fleetleader

ok color sanded with 1000 grit wet/dry and then 2000 grit. Then 3 stages of polish, rubbing compound, machine polish and finish compound and its starting to look good again.I may sand the hood once more and repaint it again cause I have some imperfections I can't get out.Probably being to fussy but I have extra paint still so its a possibility.I put the original skirt up in place and looks like a good color match to me.Got my windlace in the mail this week and the grey vinyl I found online came as well. The only bummer was I ordered some fabric online that matches the original chevron fabric pretty well. The ad stated it was grey but I got gold somehow, aarrgghhh!Trying to figure out the mixup with the seller.Hopefully I can finish color sanding and actually start reassembly next week.Waaiting on the front wheel cylinders from national chevy and i'll have all the brake parts I need, new master cylinder, new shoes, new springs, new cylinders all around. My local glass shop even found me my windshield glass, one out of Edmonton but they had to order the d.s so it'll be a week or so.Progress is being made.

hey all

well it's been a crazy summer already and I would like to say I've made a ton of progress on the 49 but not the case.I did get the doors rehung and the trunk lid back on but still have to align it.The body is about half color sanded so the rest to do.The good news is I finally have some space in the driveway so the 54 will be moved out of the garage and the 49 brought home from my work so I can work on it at home. The garage shelfs are stacked to the roof with all the new parts so have to get going on it.I have been tinkering on the 54 a bit, polishing up some chrome stc but haven't even had it out for a drive yet. That will change shortly as I have a few close car shows I want to attend in the next month.I have even contemplated putting the 54 up for sale maybe this time i'll get someone who wants to finish the rsto instead of hot rodding it and painting it red, aarrgghhh!!I guess some people don't see the signifigance of it being body serial 2 for 1954.Anyways if it does go up for sale it will be posted here first and no it won't be 25000dollars,i figure if I can get 7 out of it i'd let her go.Maybe I just need to drive it and remember why I like owning it so much.More pics and updates soon I promise.
