You wont see a Chevelle out on the show floor, said Matt Augusta of Steele Rubber Products during the Grand Opening Breakfast at the Hot Rod & Restoration Show. Instead, youre going to see a Beaumont hardtop that looks a lot like a Chevelle, but it has a lot of differences, too.
Steele Rubber Products sponsors the Featured Vehicle Program at the show, so the rubber parts maker pulled out all stops to make sure there was nothing ordinary about the 60 vehicles hand-picked for the show. The burgundy-colored Beaumont was built by GM of Canada and looks something like a cross between a Pontiac and a Chevrolet.
When the 1951 Tempest was introduced in the United States, it had no Canadian-built companion model. The Pontiac compact was marketed in Canada, but built here. In 1962, the Acadian was introduced north of the border. It was unique to Canada and resembled a Chevy II with a Pontiac split grille. Ten models were offered in two series called Beaumont and Invader.
In 1964, the Acadian began a transition that would wind up with the name being used on two separate lines of cars. The Beaumont name was transferred to a Canadian version of the new Chevy Chevelle, which retained Pontiac styling motifs like a split grille, Pontiac-style rocker moldings and Pontiac type taillights. Inside, the instrument panel was the same used in the 1964 U.S. Tempest. There were then three Beaumont series: standard, Sport Deluxe and Custom.
When Chevelles got heftier and more rounded in 1966, the Beaumont followed the pattern, again retaining a Pontiac style front end. Like the Chevelle, the Beaumont adopted a major facelift in 1968. There was a modest final year update for 1969. The Beaumont Sport Deluxe convertible was dropped in 1969, but a unique Thin Pillar Coupe was added. The redundant Deluxe series was discontinued and all body styles were available in the base Beaumont line. A 327-cid 275-hp Chevy V-8 was replaced with a new 350-cid 275-hp Chevy V-8.
Beaumonts were manufactured at the GM of Canada factory in Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada. The cars were sold at both Pontiac and Buick dealerships throughout Canada. The car in the Hot Rod & Restoration Show was a two-door custom hardtop with a Pro-Touring treatment done by JH Restorations. It was powered by an LS2 V-8 attached to a 4L65E trans with a FAST intake, Air Flow Research cylinder heads and Kooks exhaust headers.

Nice to see Beaumonts featured at car shows. Its a nice looking car for sure and would be even nicer with out the cow catcher on the front.

I think they did Canadian Poncho well with that choice    The car is very very nice    The front spoiler is removable 

They plant location was a boo boo      I've never seen a 51 Tempest  disbelief

MY BEAUMONT HAS 4 STUDDED TIRES AND 2 BLOCKHEATERS......AND LOTS OF OIL UNDERNEATH.  The other one has a longer roof.
