cut a grove where there are cracks and use epoxy to fill them (just below the surface)
use surface putty to smooth out the filled groves
when you paint make sure you clear it after to make the paint Harder..\

figured since p[art was sold it would be ok to add this info

Here is the old blue one i used.. and painted red
