1962 window track problem.

My passenger side windows came off my 62 beaumont track and I can't seem to get it to stay on.

I'm having a hard time getting the the window crank and door handle off,I'm not sure where the clip is.prying it with a flat head screw driver has been no help. So far I have pushed the door panel off to the side, just enough to see the track. I've tried soldering the bottom of the windows witch is in cased in metal to the track but it came loose again! I was afraid to get too much heat on the window and have it shatter.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to keep my window on the track or at least get those Damn knobs off so I can see what I'm doing?

Thanks soo much.

Tony

The handles are held on by little wire "C" clips. You pry the door panel away from the handle a bit and you can see it in there. There is a tool for that at any parts store, CTC etc

This is for a newer GM car but the clips are the same as your car.

Easy way.....wink

A Piston Ring or Princess Auto also will have the tool you need.

You need to have the crank handle pointing towards the tool side when you push the tool in to remove the clip. Don't try to go in behind the crank from the side opposite the handle, if you know what I mean.

that will be the case unless someone put the clip in backwards.
another trick to use is a piece of heavy string to wrap around the handle and catch the clip.

Correctly installed to remove clip (assuming the clip wasn't installed backwards!)

....I just use a hard wire like from a manual choke cable, about 8" long, bend a small hook at the end , other end make a loop that your fingers can grab. Use a screw driver to pry the handle away abit and you can usually see the clip, hook the clip and just pull and it pops off.
