63 Front Emergency Brake Cable Hook up

Hey everyone

I am trying to connect the front e-brake cable to the park hand brake assembly, the cable end fits into the bracket but I'm wondering if there is some type of clip that holds it in place? When I connect it up and pull on the hand brake, it pulls out of the bracket and falls out. I have searched everywhere and cannot find how it stays in the bracket. Can anyone check their car and see what it looks like?

Thanks Russ

Russ it should stay in the bracket by itself i looked at mine and as long as there is tension on the cable it does not fall out.
tried to take pic but nothing shows.
In your picture the "holder" is showing open towards the driver mine is open towards firewall possibly yours may be upside down causing
the cable to just drop out
can you flip it ??
this page from parts book may help

Thanks for the picture!! I took the mechanism out of the car to look at it and noticed the ridges inside to hold the cable end were almost worn flat. I knurled them out a bit and pressed the bend a little tighter, reassembled and all works good now. Just didn't know if I was missing a clip?

Thanks again Dan!
