Oh, I know there is a thread on here about Beaumont Key chains, which is a bit old but I thought I'd let any of you who are interested know that I scored this one on Ebay just a week or so ago. Looks like this seller has more. They are from the UK but convert to about $15 Can. I can post the Ebay link but not sure if I am allowed to do that here in this post or should I (can I) post it elsewhere on the board? I'm new and don't want to break any rules and stuff!

Thanks very much dcneric, think my wife will do most of the driving, I tend to do 99% of the driving when we are running errands or taking road trips etc. Think I will enjoy sitting in passenger seat for a change. Although she did let me drive it for the first time yesterday, very smooth ride. Only thing I'm not used to or crazy about is the manual drum brakes. May need to upgrade those to power brakes at least. Did that on my '62 GMC and find the braking much better with the power drum brakes. If I am correct? Power disc brakes were available as an option back in 66, might look into that modification over the winter.

Thanks very much. Believe it or not, when we found out we had a chance to change the colour while body work was being done before we bought it, my wife and I really considered the Lemon wood yellow. Even saw a 66 Malibu freshly painted in the yellow looking really good however it had the black interior. When the painter showed us the regal red in the can he had to spray a test sample we both thought the red was the right way to go. Glad we saw the red.

Thanks marshalldude, can't imagine driving it with the top up! smile Although yours does look really good with the top up in your profile pic! Love the colour too. Had a buddy who had a Mustang convertible a few years ago, he kept the top down till the snow started to fly! Boy, we had some cold rides in that car.

Thanks very much! lets see....50 miles of beach just north of me would put you around Wasaga smile One place I have yet to visit in our fair province. My wife's family has owned a cottage on Muldrew Lake in Gravenhurst since '71 so we tended to head strait up there many summer weekends. Will have to try to check out Wasaga with the Beaumont this summer! I hear there is a very good classic car show held there each summer.

Thanks very much Brian. May try to attend the Barrie Classics In The Park on July 26 if we are around. Barrie waterfront is very beautiful, great setting for a show. My wife and I will be attending the Tottenham classic car show this Sunday (just down the road from us actually) She will have the Beaumont and I will have my '62 GMC. They usually get close to 400 cars, nice show and setting down by the Tottenham pond & conservation area.

Re the glove box liner, they do reproduce them if you find yourself in need of one. (The great news is that many, but not all, of the parts are shared with Chevelle's or GTO's and are therefore reproduced.)

Thanks very much 03cts sport. I have bought a repro glove box lock assembly, should arrive next week. I did manage to get the cylinder out of the lock housing but a small piece of what looks like soft metal fell out (broken off a part still inside) shaped sort of like a small hammer. Think it's the actuator that moves the latch pin up and down when you press the button. With that broken I figured best to replace the whole assembly and get new keys in the process. I'm stating to learn that many parts are shared with the GTO & Chevelle's, nice to have some reproduction parts available if needed.

Yes my wife's family name & birth year tie in is really cool! Everyone she talks to just loves that story. I bought a couple of NOS '66 Beaumont emblems on Ebay a few years back (two front fender & one front Grille) and used one of the fender emblems to make a nameplate for her desk at the office. Most people who see if think, cool nameplate, but the car guys & gals who see it say "Hey, you know that's a real car emblem!" She just smiles, now she can show them a photo on her desk of the real deal!

Thanks very much RobSD, yours looks great too! One thing we want to look into is what I think is called a "boot" for the convertible top when the top is down (which is most of the time) Looks like your car has one. We attended our local car show yesterday and I noticed most convertibles have a cover over the top area when down, looks much neater and keeps leaves and other debris from falling into the top compartment. Not sure if these covers need to be custom made or are available ready to fit? Something else to investigate.
