I bought a couple of NOS '66 Beaumont emblems on Ebay a few years back (two front fender & one front Grille) and used one of the fender emblems to make a nameplate for her desk at the office.

First of all 66BMT - love your '66 S/D - it is definitely a sweet/rare ride, with clean styling to spare.

^^^^ I believe 1967 was the introduction year for factory front Disk Brakes, in the Chevelle & Beaumont's.

(a GM 4 piston caliper design, started with the 1965 Corvette 396-V8 - sleeved with stainless steel, stops the numerous leaks)

- I don't know if the early calipers between Corvette & "A" bodies, are identical.

- I suspect the rotors may be different, and don't know if "Chev/Beau" new ones are available...going to the factory route.

^^^^ Like to hear what your Ebay trim pieces cost you (if you care to share)...just to stay in touch, with NOS$ reality some.

Hi Beaumont67SD, sorry for not answering your post earlier, for some reason  I missed it!  Thanks for the compliments on our '66.

First off, In the spirit of honesty I have to admit I received a bit of disappointing news today.  I  finally got the info package on our '66 from George at GM Vintage vehicle services  (for some reason he never got the first fax request I sent him back in late June)   According to that info our '66 did not leave the factory with the sport deluxe option.  So rather than being a true SD, a previous owner (not the guy we bought it from) has converted this one into an SD.  Not a deal breaker mind you, we did not buy this particular car because it was supposedly an SD car, that was an unexpected bonus or so we thought at the time.  If that was the main reason for buying it, I would have done more careful research before buying it.  I also feel we paid a good bit less than what a true SD would sell for (based on other SD prices I have seen over the years)   Again, we bought it because it's what my wife wanted, a '66 Beaumont convertible to match her family name and birth year.  And that the car was/is in excellent condition overall.  So rather than being one of 57 built, it's one of 245 built, still not too shabby!  The more research I started to do on this site the more I started to suspect that our car was not a true factory SD but wanted to wait for official confirmation before mentioning it.  That being said we still love, and will continue to enjoy driving our  Beaumont as much as we can for as long as we can!  As for a bit more history on the car, here goes!  Production date, March 2nd 1966, shipping date March 4th 1966,  Dealer: GM of Canada Zone Product Stock Calgary Alberta.  It did leave the factory as 283/Powerglide car but the original engine number does not match what our current 283 engine number is so that was changed out at some point, not sure if the powerglide is original?  Also had a 2bbl carb but now has a 4bbl.  Original colour was chateau Slate Metallic with red interior (with bench front seat) and a white top. That covers the basic stuff!

As for the NOS emblems cost you asked about, I honestly can't recall exactly.  I did feel they were most reasonable at the time.  I will try to go through my Ebay history to see if I can find out the cost and post again when I do.

Thanks again for all the wonderful comments!

Welcome and great story, you could complete it by moving to Beaumont Alberta!! As mentioned disc brakes were not available until 1967, and they were the troublesome 4 piston caliper style, but the 1969-1972 A body, Chevelle, Tempest, Skylark, Cutlass etc. are a bolt in and have the better single piston caliper design. Your GMC reminds me of the one Clint Eastwood drove in the movie, Right Turn Clyde, with the 305 Cubic Inch V6. Any which way but loose??

Thanks
Randy

Thanks Randy! I lived in Calgary for about a year and a half back in the mid 80s, never knew there was a Beaumont Alberta!  I know of Beaumont California & Texas however.  Bought a power brake booster for the 66 so I will try that out first when I have time to install it.  Then will decided if I go with disc brakes up front, thanks for the info on the two types of brakes systems (4 piston vs single)  I kept the 4 wheel drum brakes on my GMC but added the power booster and it stops very well so I hope to have the same result with the Beaumont.  As for Clint Eastwood, I believe he does have a real liking for the 60-66 GMCs as he has used them in several of his movies.  I was at a car show this past weekend and overheard a lady telling her friend "that's the same type of truck in the movie Bridges of Madison County" when she saw my truck.  I actually watched that movie several years ago just to see the truck!  The truck in the movie Any which way you can is actually a '64-'66 Chevy with a GMC grille & tailgate but more or less the same truck.  The Chevy's had a different dash that's how you can tell it's a Chevy and not truly a GMC.
