I just purchased a 1956 Pontiac Laurentian and might need some help decoding numbers such as the paint, the trim, the body, the engine, the tranny. Ya so pretty much every thing. Would like to find out if it is a numbers matching car. It has been sitting in a garage since the 80s Here are some pictures.

Wow great find. This is one of the rarest tri 5 Canadian Pontiacs to be found in such great original condition. The car will probably be a 261 because of no V8 emblems on the rear quarters. Very low bodyno. so it is an early production car built probably August 1955. I would need all the numbers from both data plates to do a more complete decipher on the car.The bumpers are slightly misalighned due to improper jacking at some point in its life so be carefully not to snap any bumper to frame mounting bolts on the mounting brackets these bolts are hard to find as there is a type of cam adjustment on them. Congratulations on finding and purchasing this. If you need any small detail parts email me.
Let it be known I can not take the credit for finding this car. A friend of mine is like a bloodhound at finding great cars and bought it in May. On the other hand , I will take credit for convincing him to sell it to me.
Congrat's on getting her running. Do yourself a favor and change the rubber hoses (both fuel, vacuum, heater & radiator) and install a fresh set of fan belts.
A hardy welcome aboard from Milton, Ontario. Pat, that is such a beautiful looking 56 you got there. A real solid and complete looking car. Is there any chance of seeing engine and interior pictures of your car. Good luck with the 56 and here is praying you keep her original and on the road. Cheers. George.

Welcome from the Okanagan valley and a few other places. Love the look of your car and the condition it seems to be in. Looks like you have a real nugget there.
