My car was built in Jan 68 and has black firewall. I figured the early production cars had body Color this probably happened in the lacquer to enamel change.
And here's a shot of an unrestored, original paint 68 Beaumont with 74,000 miles. Certainly the firewall is original and it's a green car.
This car was built mid October 1967, so it was quite early. Maybe it's time to do a survey of original unrestored 68's to see if a pattern can be figured out.
