1966 Beaumont factory A/C trim tag info

I have a 66 Beaumont Custom convertible. It has what "appears" to be factory A/C. However, I'm not seeing a C60 or C65 code on the firewall tag. Would the A/C option code absolutely show up on the cowl tag?

No not all options show up on cowl tag.

Cool (pardon the pun). Post pictures if you can...

PS For less than $100.00 you can obtain a build sheet for your car from GM Canada. An opportunity that I believe is unique to these Canadain builds (and that many feel that it is well worth the investment).

I am quite sure the first in dash Beaumont factory air available is 67 and as far as I have seen nobody has ever come up with a documented one. However there certainly could have been a dealer installed under dash unit on 66.

If it wasn't available, then most likely the previous owner added it. It looks like factory 66 GTO/tempest stuff.

I think the under dash AC, look cool...I've got one out of a 1968 Nova, traded a set of rims for the unit.

25 years ago, a guy at Waterdown Flea Market claimed he had a 4 door Beaumont with factory in dash air, at home.
- he was asking $500 for the parts car, price reflected this one rare option
But I never followed up on the car.

The only Beaumont I have seen with documented factory AC is the Butternut Yellow with red interior 1969 Beaumont that went to Puerto Rico when new. I'm sure there are more but I am not aware of them.

Beaumont Master Parts Books don't list any a/c components prior to the 1968 models. This is for factory installations.

The underdash "Comfort Car" a/c with the evaporator case below the dash is a dealer-installed system.

Given the changes on the body that Fisher Body would have needed to make on the body prior to passing it "through the wall" to Oshawa No. 2 plant I would fully expect to see a C60 coded on the trim tag if they were offering a/c from the factory. I'm not saying they never offered it on a '67, I'm saying that they never catalogued it (no parts or components in any parts list from the day), I have never seen or heard of a legitamate one, plus I have not seen anyone document one as factory installed. There is a Marina Blue 67 SD396 convertible that ended up in Florida that had numerous options added after the fact (a/c, cruise, tilt wheel, am/fm radio...)

One could make a factory-appearing in dash setup using Chevelle underhood components and Tempest ducting / outlets / controls.

The cut out for plenum/heater box is larger on a/c cars than non a/c cars. Can't just install factory parts from a/c lemans into non a/c car.

Cameron, my March 1972 Beaumont Master Parts Book has numerous pages giving part numbers for factory installed A/C on a 67 Beaumont. What issue is your book? Possibly a later book where the numbers where deleted?

There is an extra weird shaped hole up high on the firewall that is used for the choice between recirculate and fresh air intake on the A/C. Also, there is an extra sort of oval shaped hole on the firewall in behind the inner fender on the 64-67 A body factory A/C installations as well. Our member Fake68 has installed an in dash A/C in his 67 Chevelle, perhaps he can post up the before and after firewall picture if he has some.

Heres the factory in-dash a/c firewall I sold 70 Acadian, its out of a '65 lemans, 66-67 is the same except dash of course, it is the same firewall that would have been in 64-65 Beaumont if it was available.

A/C firewall (note the hole above the big hole for the heater core as well as the extra hole at the outer edge of the firewall).
