My friend and I were just talking about this on the weekend.... In terms of what the idea was around stacking into the huge piles rather than clearing them out.

what was the reason over now spreading them out and letting people pick then squashing them???

Seeing pictures like that with all that old rust-free iron makes me wince a little.

The shredder in Wpg would stack them like that because they had limited room and it was slower to process them than they would arrive in summertime. Slow times and winter....munch munch munch munch munch munch munch. It was a cool place...

I remember picking parts off cars third row up.... good times. They freaked out when they caught us back there!!! HA !!

I spent a bit of my youth going to junkyards. My Grandpa had his own little parts yard of very rare & vintage stuff. He would take me with him to the yards around Woodstock,Brantford & London searching for parts.
I never thought to bring a camera, who would pay for developing pictures of junk cars? I spent my money on cars, gas, parts and what was left over went for beer, food & rent. In that order
