What else can I say but wow. Many thanks for sharing the pictures and story. Every car has a story but some are just so much more interesting. That thing isn't even broken in yet.

Very nice! Is he online? You should get him to join CP. I still need a feature car.

I still had to look over the pics again!

Just awesome.

I thought you mentioned the 68 when you stopped by, but that would have been all you said, that you knew of one close to you.

The exhaust was upgraded to the chambered tuned pipes which I believe were offered on the 69's,  most of you guys probably never seen or heard of the chambered pipes,  they sound great.   These changes really woke up the 396.  For those not familiar with chambered exhaust....

Heres how chambered mufflers work: Exhaust is routed through multiple chambers and around any number of angled, sound-cancelling plates, known as baffles. With few restrictions along the way, exhaust flow is boosted, increasing horsepower, torque and fuel economy. On top of that, your ride gains a rumbling, slightly metallic exhaust note thats sure to turn heads. Best of all, packing materials that can blow out, arent used, so chambered muffler tones always sound great.

What it sounds like......

Thank you !!    Love to see that...

(being a tire guy all my life)   you have to experience the ride and sound of F70's being tortured by a big block

Remember those were "big tires" back in the day.....

Nice car    nothing to fault      even being a daily driver  "I" would have washed the engine  lol

Thats so nice to see an original one, especially red with parchment interior and a 4 speed also. My high school buddy's mom had a new 68 SD 396 so i remember cruising in it back in 1970 when Gord got his license. It was pale yellow,(Mayfair Maise?) black top and interior 325 hp automatic. But this color scheme is much nicer to me.
Havent seen chambered exhaust in over 30 years!

A set of vintage Cragars on it would really set that thing off.

Micheal,  it would be great to get his story about Beaumont center caps he put on, I believe rallies were not an option , the center bullet was used on the spoke hubcap,  which does bolt on to the disk brake base.

Sets EM off ..any way you look at it !

very cool .....

Thanks for sharing Mike. That car is a time capsule and an excellent resource if restoring an SD, Beaumont or even a Chevelle.

2486.JPG2487.JPGIt's only original once and this is a time capsule for sure. I love chamber pipes, have them on my 64cs. They have been on about 3 cars so far and the sound is awesome.

WOW, I like it. Other than the color and engine compartment that car looks a lot like my car. I have the same color top, interior color, gauge package and wheels. I agree with others, it would make a great Feature Car. Does anyone here know when GM stopped using the round outside mirror and started using the rectangular one? What was the build date of the car? If possible, I would like to see a picture of the trim tag.
