'66 Grande Parisienne fuseblock.


So I have recently acquired a factory harness for my Grande Parisienne but the contacts in the fuseblock were a bit rusty for the fuseholders and taps. I removed the rust from the contacts using electrolysis and then replated what was left with nickel using electroplating.  It's not perfect but I think it should work.  Dark spots aren't rust, it's just pitting from what the rust ate away, it's actually shiny when the light hits it right. Think it will hold up and work well?

What I started with:

I've checked with a meter just haven't installed the harness in the car yet to test fuses in real use. For plating I just used a home made set up using nickel plates in a nickel acetate solution with a home made power supply, worked perfect. Plating seems to be thick enough, can sand it and not go through it, used up quite a bit of my little nickle plates tho.

I suppose that's something that would be helpful! On my next set of days off I will do something up and plate an example with pictures of each step. Hopefully that will be next weekend, but with how work has been lately, I can't guarantee it, which is also the reason why putting this car together is going so slow haha.

Maybe plate something pretty for Carl since he doesn't seem to think my work on this is pretty enough! biggrin

Haha just teasing, it isn't all that pretty, the metal is pretty pitted up and I didn't want to take off material to make it smooth, if i went too thin it might not be rated for the amperage it's supposed to flow.
