The Pontiac Pathfinder was introduced on the Canadian market only in 1953 and was produced until 1958. The car was an instant hit and Pontiac models continued to increase in popularity production soared to 44,369 vehicles in 1953. The Pathfinder series, its name suggesting a car suitable for the exploration of Canadas rugged terrain, was joined by the up-scale Pontiac Laurentian series, named after the popular mountain vacation region of Quebec. By 1958, the post-World War II economic boom began to decline and car sales slowed for many car makers except Pontiac which saw another record-breaking sales year. In 1959, Pathfinder marque was replaced with Strato-Chief, and the Pathfinderline came to an end.
Does it not have a trim tag stating "Made in Canada"?

Didn't the "Canuckistan" Poncho get the OHV 261 6 banger in 55 & previous ones had the 239 "Flatty' I like this as it's a 2dr. htp. got some "style" 12 volt is not a bad thing, now if "I was you" or "you were me" Here comes a V8, 5 or 6spd OD trans & late model under pinning, make it a car that's meant to be driven, not worry about breakdown or where to get parts when something does go amiss!!!! Poor "longstroke" will have a fit on this?? [ Just kidding you George] OK you can't change a "RODDER"

According to my literature the Canadian 53's had a 239 CI six which is the flathead. '53 was also the first year a 2 door hardtop was built in Canada.
If you give me the VIN I can get you some more info.
