This has to be the same car I photographed and posted back in the summer of 2009 when I stopped in Wyevale ON to have a look at it when it was for sale them. Wyevale is about a 40 minute drive from Innisfil where the car is located now. It looks to have been freshend up a bit.

It's a Canadian car alright.

Seller is advertising it as an L head (flathead) engine but it clearly has a Chevy OHV (over head valve ) engine on board.

Thanks
Randy

I noticed that when I posted my photo as well. The data tag I photographed shows the Engine # so someone on board should be able to tell us what the factory installed engine was.

There were some canadian pontiacs built between 1937 to 1939 that had overhead valve engines.  They were not stock Chevy engines but slightly higher in cid and horsepower.  Similar idea to the 261 engines in the 1955 to 1962 canadian pontiacs.  Thought I heard at one time that the flat head engines were not very popular in Canada so G M in there wisdom decided to use overhead engines to boost sales.  Bob.

I'm pretty sure that's a Chevy 216.5 CID 85hp engine which would be correct for '39. The only thing I do notice is the breather cap is missing and it appears the hole for it (front of valve cover) has been filled in.

Don't believe the early sixes had a "breather cap" but rather just a cap over the filler hole. Breathing was by a draft tube.

The older engines had no filler cap on the valve cover, some had vents. Instead they had an oil fill cap on top of the road draft tube, or stink pipe as they were affectionately called. Later engines got the oil filler cap in front of the valve cover but as I remember Pontiac 261's had the filler cap in the middle of the valve cover, at least during later years.

Thanks
Randy

There's a photo of the engine in a Canadian 39 Pontiac in Collectible Automomobile. The engine looks exactly the same except the one in the magazine has a breather cap on the top front of the valve cover:
