Looks like a good car.  I'd love to have that one if it were closer, but would have to wait for some snow to melt before I would have a place to park it... wink

SOLD, SOLD, SOLD for $7850.00! Just kidding!

That's one way to sell a car, just keep telling potential buyers that the offers keep escalating!

Just a comment on the colour combination. In Canada I have seen 2-tone pairings that were not done in the U.S.

I can remember way back over 40 years ago there was an old lady driving a stock, clean 1969 Biscayne 2-door in my home town. It was factory Cortez Silver with that very Burgundy on the roof. I wonder if that 2+2 was the reciprocal pairing? I wonder what the trim tag says this car was originally.

I had also seen an immaculate 1964 Parisienne Sport Coupe in factory Ember Red with a Satin Silver 2-tone on the roof. It was being driven very slowly by a guy that must have been in his 80s (this was back in 1974)

Shown below is a depiction of the silver & burgundy Biscayne 2-door that I saw. The one I saw didnt have redline tires, but now that I see what the car looks like with them they really pop.

As of this morning, he said I was the highest offer and was going to call me. Just got an email saying that he sold it. I offered him $5,500 USD. Guess it sold for more than $7,000 Canadian!

I think it was a good specimen especially if that's the original colour combo. That vinyl top looks orig (center seam). How many 69 2+2's have we seen for sale since I started CP? I'd say maybe 5 or 6?

...and also how many were even made? I was thinking about this car today and thought that if it was an Impala SS in same condition and drive-train how much different the conversation and price would have gone.

Ah, the one that got away.

Are you guys certain the car has a vinyl roof? I don't see a seam, and they didn't offer a silver vinyl roof on Pontiacs in 1969. Like I said, I would have loved to see the trim tag on this one.

The 2+2 still wears her original paint, other than nicks, scratches from storage and rust at bottom of front fenders both sides, its dry rust free.  A good buff will help thats for. Underneath car as new. Owner says car never had the 2+2 stripe, old photos will support that. Should come later. In short nice old 2+2. Too nice to touch, pontiac 2 + 2 info-2 coCopy.jpg1pontiac 2 + 2 info-3copy.jpg only original once as they say.

Wow, you got it Wayne? Good score.

It is in way better shape that I expected from the kijiji pictures and with talking with Sean. Interesting colour combo, burgundy/silver.

Cool and congrat's on the purchase.

Very nice indeed, glad to see someone who understands what it is acquired it. Some nice things confirmed on the VVS document, posi, painted roof in interesting colour combo. As for stripe we all know in those days how quality control was, if it wasn't there on the assembly line the car kept moving. Its a 1968 build and I have to wonder if the original owner ordered this car, do you know Wayne?

Congrats Wayne. Rare score indeed! Good options too! And be glad it has a painted roof not vinyl with bubbly rust.

I had one, my very first car. And if I found another like it I'm afraid of how far I would go to acquire it.

NICE SAVE! smile STRANGE THERE IS NO STRIPE, AS IT WAS STANDARD ISSUE ON A 2+2. SILVER STRIPE WOULD COMPLIMENT THE ROOF NICELY.

Going to keep the 2+2 the way it is, as far as future plans, drive it and enjoy as time permits. Do not think it was special ordered by customer. The inservice date on car is December 14th 1968. Car was sold May 28th 1969. So may have been a Demo or inventory. Small town store, would be safe to say all of the above.

His son the gentleman I bought it from is 76 years of age Calgary . He bought it from His Dad (the original owner in 1977 Hussar AB) When His 4th child was born in 1981, car was too small to use as a family unit so parked. It was licensed for 1982, but not used. The plates on the car are from when it was new, kind of cool. Have a lot of hand written documentation on car.

When it was purchased by son, car was serviced at Harper Tire here in Calgary. I know the two boys Tom and Dan, going to stop by in a few weeks to see if anyone remembers the car.

So now we know of two of these cars, that were Calgary cars and they are untouched. Good reference point and both are owned by members. I am sure there are more out there.

Congrats. Glad a member got it. I think it was bargain priced compared to a 69 Impala SS as Ray said earlier!

I've got to say that you bought yourself a very interesting and unique car, Wayne.

Regarding the stripes, my 1969 Pontiac brochure dated 8/68 lists among other things as standard features on 2+2, "... Racing stripes on lower body, full length, in contrasting color to body color..."

In the brochure they show a Verdoro Green coupe with silver lower stripes. With the first repaint the stripes always disappeared, never to return in most cases.

So it has a U73 rear antenna from the factory, U46 Light Monitoring System, Positraction, F40 suspension, the L48 biggrin, plus solid confirmation that I was not seeing things when I saw that other Oshawa-built 69 full size with the Burgundy / Silver 2-tone. Awesome!

Thank you.. Same on stripe as to what you are saying, waiting for photos of its earlier days to see for sure. But Big Ray made a good point, quality control in those days were not at their best. Another very stark contrast is the the headliner, black as soon as you look inside it jumps right out at you. Seems to be correct to the car.

Well this wouldn't be the first car we have ever seen that didn't conform to the sales brochure yada yada and photos. I don't think the wheel lip moldings are the same as there is no lower body chrome strip to delineate where the stripe would go. I'm standing by my original thought that the car was built the way we see it either by oversight on the production line or on purpose. Remember every sale brochure has the following minute type face on the back cover:

Models illustrated in this catalouge do not necessarily show standard colours, materials and equipment. General Motors of Canada Limited reserves the right to make changes at anytime, without notice, in price, colours, materials, equipment, specifications and models and also to discontinue models. This right may be exercised without incurring any responsibility with regard to cars previously sold.

Ray, you also bring up a good point about the GM disclaimer about the cars shown not necessarily having all equipment as shown. In the brochure they don't show the woodgrained shroud on the steering wheel except for the Grande Parisienne. Back in 1969 there were three brand new 1969 Canadian Pontiacs in my neighborhood , 2 Laurentians & a Parisienne. At least 2 had the woodgrained shrouds on their steering wheels, including the Laurentian! The other Laurentian I simply can't recall if it had it or not, as the owner died in 1970 and his window replaced it very soon after with a new Plymouth Valiant.

I'm curious about the antenna. Was U73 a rear antenna, non power on these cars!
