There must be a way to legally remove a VIN tag for repair to the cowl, dash or door jamb, but it must involve the police inspecting the vehicle. So, is there a legal way to do this?
I have the print out of the law that states you can not tamper with a vin tag but you can remove it for repair or restoration purpose. Nothing mentioned about police to do so. Just go ahead.
