Do you know?

how the courtesy lights fasten in the sail panels in my special roof Grande Parisienne?

I need to take them out

would the white lens pry out to access the fasteners

or does the whole unit pry off... ??

The lens pops out but if I remember right, two studs stick through with some sort of fastener on the back.

Let me see if I can tell by looking in mine.

Those lenses are usually real brittle.

Nope, I'm wrong about the studs. It's two screws that you remove once you have the lens off.

Recently replaced these in our 66 Impala and it didn't go so well.

Pried the old lens out, unscrewed the chrome bezel and disconnected the wires.

Put new interior light socket OER part  no. 4234956 in new bezel OER part no. K586 and pushed the wires in.

New bulb would not seat and wires would not stay in the new socket (all this made in China).

After fighting with this for a while put the old light socket in the new bezel and all is OK now.

Wires went back in to their old home like the General intended and the new bulb fit and works.

I have not tried the new lens yet...........hmm

Parts were bought thru Classic Industries - I did not send back cause shipping would've been more than the parts.

Another lesson about old car restoration - save the old parts and don't destroy them coming out.

....NOTE:  I originally said parts were bought thru Eckler's in Florida -  NOT CORRECT

they were actually bought thru  Classic Industries in California
