Our 1964 Parisienne Custom Sport convertible is finally for sale...

...and it hurts like hell to have to say that. But my son just doesn't have the time for it anymore, and unfortunately I don't either. Both of us are super-busy w/business and he has a new daughter, so the Porsche had to go too.

Attached are some pics. On my avatar you can get a pretty good idea of this car, but in point form:

 - bought new at Jim Pattison Pontiac here in Vancouver. Somehow ended up in and around Edmonton for quite a few years with a guy who owned a small auto dealership. He said it had been owned by one of the Edmonton Eskimos but he couldn't remember a name and I've never been able to verify it. Car is verified with GM Historical and we will include the paperwork with it.

 - basically an original, numbers-matching car, 283 with double-hump heads and a 'glide, tranny leaks and should prob. be rebuilt. Engine's got lots of miles on it but my son drove it to his wedding in the Gulf Islands and back two summers ago and it ran like a top the entire trip (loaded with wedding crap too).

 - has Edelbrock intake (bought from one of the great guys here, Holley 4 bbl. (also bought from one of the great members here, and rebuilt), bit of chrome engine dress-up Pertronix electronic ignition, duals with Cherry Bombs (sounds great), 20" Ions with Rikens, and full air-ride suspension

 - when we brought the car back to BC it required some safety upgrading (had been sitting awhile) so it had all new brake lines installed, a new tinted windshield, all new motor mounts and a brake tuneup

 - the previous owner had installed a new convertible top and carpets

 - AM radio works, clock does not. Has two recent (used but exc., from Tin Man) sideview mirrors

 - car was also painted original Tuxedo Black by previous owner, OK but not wonderful.

 - car is basically rust-free, floors are all solid, but there are a couple of very small spots here and there

 - the upholstery is original and all seats except the driver's are in great shape. Driver's seat bottom is ripped but we have the correct material for it. The passenger window does not work and is in the Down position. We ordered the complete regulator mechanism from Dale @ NOS Reproductions and have it, just never had the time to put it in.

 - all trim is there and in pretty good shape. We have all original parts that came off plus 4 VGC 14" Pontiac spinner wheel covers

 - car is not perfect but for a basically original, unmolested car it's pretty darn good

That's about it. We're looking for about $17,500 for it. We're willing to talk but my son's not desperate so we won't give it away.

G1mme a call...! You can respond here or call/text me on my cell @ 604-499-7240

Neil/Vancouver

Pattison sold a TON of 64 F/S Pontiacs....he was relatively NEW as a dealer and AGGRESSIVE...

My dad bought his 64 Parisienne 4dr HT.from there....I currently have 2 (64) Custom Sport HT survivor's sold there.....

I think he may have offered deeper discount pricing on the higher end models than BOW MAC did....as there seems to be ALOT of C/S's still out there with his name on them...

The Jim Pattison group has 15 brands so quite a variety and it is the largest privately held company in Canada.  A friend of mine is married to one of his daughters and they live a pretty regular life, he doesn't spoil his kids.   He is a very rich generous man.  Sorry about the continued derail but I find him very interesting.

The story is....back in the day...mid 60's ......to late 70's...when Pontiac's were BIG sellers......Jim Pattisons policy was to FIRE the lowest producing salesman at the end of each month....

That would have kept the boys in the showroom hopping.....

Will see if I can find a picture of this somewhere......It was actually pretty cool.....

Jim Pattison Pontiac was on 19th and Main....with the large showroom windows facing Main st....about 10" back from the sidewalk.

One of the large windows was set up with an opening just big enough to fit a fullsize car through....so basically the back 1/2 of the car was in the showroom....and the front 1/2 was on the boulevard......definately a GREAT showroom traffic generator.....

Thanks Jim...and I confess, the '61/62 Pontiac 2-dr, hardtop 'bubbletop' is my very favourite car. I think the nicest styling that ever came out of Pontiac was between '61 and '64...great size and wonderful clean styling. I haven't been on here much lately as I've been too busy but I (along with a bunch of the other members) followed in awe and amazement your great buildup of that lovely blue '61 409. Love that car and I hope you still race it...make that baby dance..!

And I gotta say, our '64 sure turns a lot of heads when we go cruisin'. If you don't see it comin' you hear it! Always wanted to take it out to the Thursday night Maple Ridge cruises out here. I hear they're great. But I'm an old ON boy. I still have family in Barrie and go back to the Harvey's cruisin' nights on Yonge St. in Richmond Hill. You could buy a great burger, fries and a milkshake for $1.25! (and they cut the fries fresh every night...used to have big sacks of potatoes in the back...). My buddy Wayne and I used to take his chopped '31 Ford coupe with a full-pop 327/375 fuelie engine (pulled out of a wrecked Corvette and converted to dual quads) down there on Friday nights and see how much smoke we could waft over the parking lot and see the other great iron that would pull in. Do that now and you'd be jail pretty fast (with no car). Wayne's dad was a top-notch GM mechanic out of King City where we lived (they used to call him "King"). and he could get the dual quads on that 327 to idle down to 750 RPM. Wayne went thru more transmissions than tires...

Our '64 takes me back to those days every time I get in it and hear it fire up...

Thanks again Jim... you have a great car too...!

I'm VERY impressed... that he created his empire from NOTHING....Started as as a "poor white boy" from Vancouver with NOTHING....and was a college drop-out...

They say he's one of the richest men in Canada....

...Jimmy is one of Canada's relatively few billionaires, and very self-deprecating (as we Canadians tend to be..). One of my accountant buddies owned a very unique "floating office" at the foot of Burrard St. before they built the Convention Centre and moved those old docks and the seaplane terminals and everything, and Jimmy moored his amazing yacht the Nova Spirit down there. My buddy used to tell me of the people he'd see walking by his office to get on Jimmy's boat - try these on as a few: Paul Martin (when he was PM), George H. W. Bush (the senior) when he was VP, Tony Blair (when he was Britain's PM), Oprah Winfrey...and the list goes on...up until recently he used to play horn or trombone or something in a pick-up band directed by none other than Dal Richards, who is now about 98....both amazing guys...aaand...back to Pontiacs!!
