Found a spare tire sticker

I broke the old spare down off of my 66 and found this still affixed on the rim.

You let the 1966 air out!!!

It's neat what you find hidden.

My early 67 Chevelle never has had the spare off the rim, although it is worn and totally unsafe. When stripping the original wheels I decided to pirate one of the extra rims with mounted 1967-vintage snow tires. All the wheels were Kelsy-Canada from November 66 except for the dealer-installed snows which had Kelsy-Canada rims from January 67. My car was build December 66, used as a demo at Wills Motors then sold to my aunt in March 67. Puny but correct 14x5 rims.

Had an older cousin with a 65 Custom Sport that worked in the St. Catharines plant ~ Kelsey Hayes then Hayes Dana. He was a welder.

Cool find!

Ahh, remember when we actually made stuff here! Thats likely to be a wheel made with Hamilton (maybe Dofasco) steel. Kelsey Hayes Canada was a very big customer of Dofasco and Stelco. It was one of my fathers main customers during his career as a customer service rep for Dofasco 1969-92.

I remember him coming home regularly with a trunk full of different unfinished wheels going for testing. And some were even the Magnum 500 style. Knowing I loved cars, he was always excited to show me the nicer ones.

And at least twice he was able to "Procure" a set of winter Kelsey wheels for moms snows on the back.

Kelsey Hayes Canada (Windsor) closed in 1990.

Did your Dad deal with Studebaker (Hamilton) Mark?

No, he never had dealings with Stude. In fact, I'm willing to bet most of the stampings going into Hamilton assembly were from the US.

I don't think they stamped much if anything in Hamilton.
