Newbie from the Maritimes

I have been active on the forum for a few weeks now ... and I just realised that I didn't introduce myself!

I am Stephen and I live in Dieppe, N.B.. I don't know a whole lot about the old cars but I am a car nut.

I have always loved old cars, ever since ... well I can't remember that far anymore biggrin  My dream was to someday ... restore an old car. Well priorities being what they are ... kids education ... family stuff ... etc ... I never got around to it. Then I retired from work. Wife said ... ''Why don't you look into restoring a car like you always wanted?''. Well it didn't take me long to jump onto that bandwagon.

Long story short ... I took a road trip to the USA ... got a 1952 Catalina super deluxe project ... brought it home ... after a bit or restoration ... realised that I could not afford to do it up right. Especially with other family issues cropping up. Well if couldn't do it right ... I was not gonna butcher it ... so I sold the project, but no regrets. At least I tried.

Hindsight being 20/20 ... I should have started reading up on these forums before I got into a project.

Well now that the project is gone ... I want to get an old Pontiac just to cruise around and attend show and shines. My budget is around $10K. I am in no rush this time. I am reading all the old posts and I am learning loads of good information.

What a great site!

regards

Stephen

A formal welcome Stephen (even though we've PM'd each other). I'll keep an eye out for a car for you as I usually check NB/PEI daily for older Pontiacs.

Welcome Stephen, great to have another right-coaster on board. (Those left-coast guys are pretty plentiful here, you help balance it out!)

Welcome Stephen. Stop and say hi at the Atlantic Nationals. I will be driving a red 72 Elcamino and probably wearing a CP t-shirt. The camino will have a forsale sign and is in your price range.

I will head out to Centennial park on saturday AM ... I will look for you ashmore ...

I have seen that Pontiac from the island on Kijiji ... looks good on the pics ... still a little bit over priced for my budget ... does not show any pics except the exterior. You would think someone trying to sell a car ... for well over a year now I understand ... would show all angles ... inside and out ... unless those angles don't look good. Anyways ... I did not bother contacting the guy because he has just lowered his price ... and I don't want to waste his or my time. We are not on the same price page .... yet!
